turn out for PHS volleyball
The Prairie Lady Pirates have 23 players turned out for volleyball this season. With only 4 players back from last year’s varsity squad it may be a bit of a struggle this year, especially early in the season. Seniors Jordyn Higgins, Theresa Wemhoff, Kristyna Krogh and Alexis Hiler are the returning players. Fellow senior Ellea Poxleitner, junior Ashton Landers and sophomores Hope Schwartz and Sierra McWilliams were JV players last year and sophomore Madison Shears sat out last season with an injury. Julie Wren Schumacher returns as head coach along with longtime assistant coach Marlene Forsmann. Troy and Genesee have to be the league favorites again this year with Prairie looking to be able to compete for a state berth by district time. Players on the JV and C teams this year are juniors Anna Kaschmitter, Brooklyn Riener and Syndee Bruegeman, sophomores Ellea Uhlenkott, Kelly Stubbers and Halle Klapprich and freshmen Olivia Klapprich, Ali Rehder, Katteri Duman, Josie Remacle, Trinity Martinez, Delaney Lockkett, Laney Forsmann and Mackenzie Key. Prairie competed at a Jamboree in Kamiah last Tuesday, August 21 where they won their 3 games against Kamiah, Summit and C.V. They opened their regular season this past Tuesday at home against Potlatch. Photos below are from the Jamboree at Kamiah Aug. 21.
