Walk
With Kate
Walk With Kate is a free diabetes awareness walk to raise funds for care packages for newly diagnosed diabetic children and to promote diabetes awareness. The care package will include: coloring pencils & book, puzzle, a lap blanket, a children’s book about diabetes, stuff animal, carbohydrate counting book and medical alert bracelet. The lap blankets will be made by the sewing class at Prairie Jr/Sr High School and the stuffed animal will have patches on it that children can learn how to give shots. Each care package will cost around $200 to put together and will be distributed to local area hospitals. The walk is on November 3rd and we will gather at Prairie Elementary School around 9:30 a.m. and walk at 10:00 a.m. The walk will go from Prairie Elementary School to St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinic and back to Prairie Elementary. At St. Mary’s participants will have an opportunity to take a break and have a free health screening. All donations are appreciated and your name will be placed on a sponsor board displayed at the walk and on the “Walk With Kate” facebook page. Donations of $200 or more will include your name on the back of the event t-shirt. T-shirts are for sale for $12. To guarantee a shirt, order before October 24.
