Prairie volleyball awards were given out last Wednesday, Nov. 7. Coach Lori Mader will have 9 players each on the varsity and JV with one of those players being a swing player. Senior Jordyn Higgins and junior India Peery are the only returning starters from last year’s state runners-up. Also on the varsity are seniors Alexis Hiler, Theresa Wemhoff and Kristyna Krogh; juniors Ciara Chaffee and Sydnee Bruegeman and sophomores Madison Shears and Ellea Uhlenkott. JV players will be Bruegeman, sophomore Hope Schwartz and freshmen Ali Rehder, Olivia Klapprich, Delanie Lockett, Trinity Martinez, Laney Forsmann, Molly Johnson and Josie Remacle. Steve Wilson returns as assistant coach with David Shears returning as JV coach. Coach Lori Mader says Lapwai will be the team to beat and she sees Genesee as a possible contender. The Lady Pirates season gets started this Thursday, Nov. 15 with a league game at Clearwater Valley. Their first home game will be Friday, Nov. 30 against Potlatch.
