Pirates win 2 league road games
The Prairie Pirates picked up a pair of lopsided league wins, both on the road, this past week. On Tuesday, Jan. 15, they won 72-51 at Kamiah and on Saturday, Jan. 19, they won 74-21 at Troy.
At Kamiah
Tuesday at Kamiah, Prairie jumped out to a 16-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and by halftime they were up 38-19. The second half was much more competitive as Prairie outscored Kamiah just 34-32 over the final 2 quarters.
Spencer Schumacher led the Pirates in scoring with 21 points followed by Devin Ross with 16 and Dylan Schumacher with 15. Sam Mager added 7 points with Damian Forsmann scoring 6, Cole Schlader 4 and Taylor Ott 3.
Ross led the team with 7 rebounds and Cole Schlader had 6 assists. Prairie had 19 assists on their 29 made baskets.
The JV team also won 53-18.

At Troy
Ross, who arrived late with a couple of teammates after attending his grandfather’s funeral earlier in the day had a huge game to lead the Pirates to a rout of Troy.
He had 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 7 assists to lead the Pirates in 3 of 4 categories as they beat a shorthanded Trojan team by 53 points.Devin Ross sinks one of his 3 first half 3-pointers at Troy.
Prairie jumped out to leads of 6-0 and 20-2 in the first quarter against a Troy team playing without a couple of starters due to illness. Ross had 8 of those 20 points including a 3-pointer. Forsmann also had a 3-pointer and 5 of those points.
After Troy broke Prairie’s 14 point run with a basket, the Pirates kicked off another 12-0 run with a turnaround shot in the lane by Spencer Schumacher. Forsmann scored a lay-up and Ross stole the ball and scored to end the first quarter with Prairie up 26-4.
Mager opened the second quarter scoring with a pair of free throws. Spencer Schumacher scored on a bank shot and Mager added a basket to complete the 12-0 run and make it 32-4.
Ross added 2 more 3-pointers and a 3-point play plus another steal that he converted into a basket as Prairie took a 48-8 halftime lead. Ross had 21 of his 23 points in the first half, 10 in the first and 11 in the second.
Prairie scored the first 9 points of the third quarter to complete a 21-0 run that bracketed the halftime break. Ross scored the first 2 points of the second half then took just 1 more shot the rest of the way. 
Prairie led 65-21 after 3 quarters and then outscored Troy 9-0 in a running clock fourth quarter.
Spencer Schumacher wound up with 15 points in the game with Dylan Schumacher adding 10. Mager scored 9, Schlader 8, Forsmann 7 and Owen Anderson 2.
Prairie had a 30-19 edge on the boards.
Schlader had 5 steals and 5 assists while Spencer Schumacher also had 5 assists as Prairie had 24 as a team. Troy had 21 turnovers, 16 of those via Prairie steals, to just 6 for Prairie.
Prairie was 29 for 50 from the field, 58%, and 12 for 18 at the line, 67%. Troy was 7 for 31 from the field, 23%, and 6 for 6 at the line.
Prairie is now 11-4 on the season, 7-1 in league play.
In the JV game Prairie broke open a close game with a 15-0 second quarter and won 49-11.
Prairie led just 8-6 at the end of the first quarter but shut out the Trojans in the second quarter as they took a 23-6 halftime lead.
Zach Rambo scored 6 of Prairie’s 8 first quarter points. The scoring was distributed much better in the second as 7 different players scored led by Dean Johnson with 4 points. Hayden Uhlenkott, Brody Hasselstrom, Tyler Wemhoff, Kyle Schwartz and Lane Schumacher each scored 2 and Rambo 1.
Troy was 0 for 8 from the field and 0 for 4 from the line in the quarter.
Troy added 5 points in the third quarter but their final points of the game came on a 3-pointer with 5:00 left in the third. That made the score 29-11 and Prairie finished the game with a 20-0 run.
Alex McElroy scored 6 of Prairie’s 11 points in the fourth quarter.
Schwartz wound up as the leading scorer with 10 points. Hasselstrom scored 9 with 7 of those coming in the third quarter right after Troy’s final basket. Johnson and Rambo scored 7 each with McElroy scoring 6, Uhlenkott and Schumacher 4 each and Wemhoff 2.
Uhlenkott had 9 rebounds to lead Prairie to a 36-23 domination of the boards.
Hasselstrom had 3 steals and Schwartz and Schumacher each had 3 assists.
The JV’s were 18 for 37 from the field, 49%, and 13 for 21 at the line, 62%. Troy was 4 for 38 from the field, 11%, and 1 for 6 at the line, 17%.
