Welcome signs need refurbished
The Welcome to Cottonwood signs at the north and south entrances to town off of Highway 95 are apparently in need of refurbishing.
The signs were installed in 2001 and apparently were supposed to get a clearcoat seal done every 2 years or so. That hasn’t been done and they are now in need of repair.
They still appear okay from a distance but up close you can see the need.
The Cottonwood Lions Club has taken on the one at the South entrance to town as it is in worse shape due to the additional direct sunlight it receives. They don’t have the resources to take on both.
The Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce is looking into doing the one at the North entrance but does not have the funding to do it alone.
Jerry Richardson contacted Jim Reed was behind doing the signs originally and Reed gave him the contact info for the sign-maker. It was estimated at $4800 to repair the south sign and it is likely a little less to do the north one. It was an estimated $12,000 to replace each sign.
Anyone wishing to help with the costs of refurbishing the signs can send a check to the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 15, Cottonwood, or drop off a donation with Beth at Forsmann Accounting.
