Gehring has been involved in agriculture his entire career.  He grew up on a cow-calf operation on the Salmon River.  He started working with Lewiston Grain Growers in 1980 and began building their agronomy business on the Camas Prairie.  In 1992, Tom took a job with DuPont Plant Technology Company as Agronomist for the Camas Prairie.  As a Certified Crop Advisor, he was involved with getting a new crop, canola, started and worked with producers on learning how to grow it. In 2013 Tom accepted a job with Agri-Trend, a company out of Red Deer, Canada as Network Manager/ AgriCoach.  Working with growers in crop nutrition is key to growing better yields and through micro nutrients, liming and good agronomy, Tom is helping growers reach that goal.  Tom invented the Little Big Rig ATV sprayer in the early 80’s along with a dry fertilizer spreader. Tom is an accomplished pilot and has flown over crops for many years identifying problems.  He found the first winter grain mite in the early 1980’s.  Tom also found the Haanchen Mealy Bug in 2011 on the Camas Prairie and the Wheat Straw Worm in 2012. Tom has been a board member of Idaho Soil and Water Conservation District for Idaho county for eight years.  He is a member of the North Central Idaho Grazing Committee helping to educate producers on rangeland management and weed control.  Tom also helped start the Keuterville Cowboy Wildland Firefighters and has been fire chief of the organization since its inception. Tom has two children and is involved in ranching with his cousin.
