win 4 of 6
The Prairie baseball team played 3 doubleheaders from Tuesday, April
23 through Saturday, April 27, winning 4 of the 6 games. They split a doubleheader
at Genesee on Tuesday, winning 10-0 and losing 6-8. On Thursday they swept
Lewis County at Cottonwood 10-2 and 11-1. On Saturday they split with Potlatch,
winning 7-6 and losing 3-14. . . .
Late news-The Pirates lost to C.V. Thursday, May 2, which puts them
into a paly-in game situation Tuesday, May 10 at 4:30 p.m. Opponent and
place will be determined by results of their doubleheader against Kendrick
on Saturday.

Lady
Pirates win 2 of 4
The Prairie Lady Pirates had a busy week of softball with 7 games scheduled
from Tuesday, April 23 through Monday, April 30.
They started with a 22-7 win at Grangeville then split with Genesee
at Cottonwood on Thursday, April 25, winning 3-2 and losing 9-10. On Saturday,
April 27 at Cottonwood they got swept by Potlatch, 0-7 and 14-17. Finally
on Monday, April 29 they hosted Troy and swept the Trojans 14-4 and 22-8.

Late news: The Lady Pirates swept Nezperce Thursday, May 2 and finished
3rd in the league. They will host Troy Monday, May 6 in a District Play-in
game at 5 p.m. If they win that game they would play Kendrick at Genesee
at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 9.

Student of the month for April at Prairie High are
Kodie Tidwell and Redi Uptmor. Tidwell, nominated by Della Gehring-She
was invaluable with the spring showcase. She made items, organized things
and did all with a smile. And once she started she completed the project.
It was great. Uptmor, nominated by various staff members. Reid is
willing to step and help with various projects in and out of the building.
He showed up to assist Jake Forsmann at the monastery to help move items
a few weeks ago. He helped push wheelbarrows of concrete for the
pole vault pit at the track this past week. He just does what is
asked of him without complaint. Keep up the great work! Photo

Those who attended this weekend's Sleeping Beauty
experienced joy, fear, awe and wonder but none could say the outstanding
performances induced sleep. The fairies were magical, and Malificent was
frightening. Her army of evil crows kept the crowds cowering as they hunted
down Sleeping Beauty with their terrifying stomping and cawing. With dazzling
swordsmanship, Prince Phillip fought his way past Malificent's henchman,
and then had to battle a huge dragon that swayed menacingly above the stage.
After the dragon's defeat Prince Phillip rushed to Sleeping Beauty's side
where the fairies were anxiously waiting. And then . . . well, you know
the rest of the story! Thank so much to Gina Lustig who adapted the play,
Director Michael Rehder and to the many many others who helped put on the
play. Pictured are the entire cast of Sleeping Beauty, at right are Director

Hayden Uhlenkott was selected to the IHSAA Student
Advisory Council for District II for the 2019-2020 school year. This
is a position that promotes sportsmanship, leadership, and a productive
lifestyle. The IHSAA stated that "Hayden is a great example of your
school and community." Prairie High School is proud of Hayden and

Justin Prigge, eldest son of Pete and Leah Prigge
of Cottonwood, is being ordained a priest on May 4,2019 in Rome. He will
have his Mass of Thanksgiving in Cottonwood at St. Mary's Church on June
22, 2019.
