4x200 threepeats at State
The Prairie girls 4x200 relay team won at State for the third year in a row. They were Prairies lone state champions although there were several other medal winners. Ellea Uhlenkott, Sierra McWilliams, Jordyn Higgins and Theresa Wemhoff posted a time of 1:50.12 to win the event. All 4 of the girls relays earned medals and as coach Ryan Hasselstrom put it, they hit for the cycle. The 4x400 team of Uhlenkott, Higgins, McWilliams and Wemhoff placed second in 4:17.17. The 4x100 team of Uhlenkott, Higgins, McWilliams and Wemhoff finished third in 52.61. The medley team of CiCi Chavez, McWilliams, Wemhoff and Higgins finished fourth in 1:59.56. Ciara Chaffee earned a medal in 800 where she finished 6th in 2:27.85. She was 10th in the 3200 in 12:20.59 and 10th in the 1600 in 5:32.73. Uhlenkott earned a medal in the 300 hurdles with a 6th place finish in 50.55. For the boys team Carson Schmidt was the lone state medalist. He placed third in the shot put with a personal best by over 3 feet at 4611. He was 7th in the discus at 12111. Matt Coppernoll was 9th in the discus at 1174. Cole Martin was 16th in the 100 in 11.91, 14th in the 200 in 24.46 and 13th in the long jump at 18½. As a team the girls placed 5th, 1 spot shy of earning a trophy, with 35 points.
