This summer, the Prairie Community Library is hosting
the Summer Reading Program. This fun program is a way to help kids get
excited about reading and learning during the summer. The theme this year
is Dinosaurs. It will be June 12th, 13th, 14th, 17th, 19th, and 20th from
9:30am - 11:30am at the Prairie Community Library. Children Kindergarten
through 6th are invited. Come one, or come all days! Hope to see you there!

The Cottonwood Recycling Center, which was going to
close after June 1 will now stay open for at least a while longer. Isaiah
Williams, pictured in front of the recycling bins, has agreed to take over
manning the site and it will continue to be open from 9 a.m. to 11
a.m. on Saturdays. Although he has taken over manning the site, more volunteer
help would be much appreciated. Click on the photo for a larger view..

Remodeling work continues on the former School District
offices as the building is being converted into the Sisters Apartments.
Some of the new windows have already been installed with more installed
on the opposite side. A new ramped entryway will be built on the side shown

HUB International is proud to announce that Jordyn
Higgins, a 2019 graduate of Prairie High School, has been awarded the Dee
and Ina McKern Memorial Scholarship - $1,000 – Administered by the Washington
State Grange on behalf of Grange Insurance Association. She is the daughter
of Hub employee, Bryan Higgins and Becky Higgins of Kamiah, ID. We are
very proud of Jordyn and are excited for the bright future that lies ahead.
Each student who applies is required to write an essay about themselves
and their family, future goals, volunteer work in high school or for the
community and their plan for college. Jordyn is shown with Cassi

Northwest Farm Credit Services has awarded 85 students
from its five-state territory a total of $212,500 in scholarships. The
22 2019 Scholarship Program winners from Idaho will each receive a $2,500
college scholarship. One of those recipients recently graduated from Prairie
High School. Theresa Wemhoff, daughter of Roger and Annette Wemhoff of
Grangeville, will be attending Brescia University.

Jack Wimer has started to sell off some of the lots
he purchased with the former K-1 School Building that he converted into
the Schoolhouse Apartments. One house has already been started with the
foundation shown along Church St. just west of the Schoolhouse Apartments.

The Prairie Booster Club’s second annual Kickball
Tournament that was scheduled for last Thursday, June 6, has been rescheduled
to this coming Thursday, June 13. The tournament was rescheduled due to
the rainy weather last Thursday. It will be held at the Prairie football/track
facility starting at 5 p.m. Dan’s Burger Barn will be open as well. Proceeds
from the tournament benefit Prairie Schools. Click on the photo for a larger
