THE ZONING DILEMMA - AGAIN?
On April 24, Deputy Attorney General Paul Panther sent a letter to the Idaho County Attorney complaining that this county had failed to adopt a comprehensive zoning plan & ordinance to comply with Idaho statues.
Idaho County has several comprehensive plans, addressing various subjects, such as fire mitigation, emergency services, etc. These existing plans address specific needs of the people of the county.  A blanket zoning plan is what, once again, the state is seeking.
In 1997, FEMA leaned on our county to adopt a zoning plan, in compliance with FEMA mandates.  Out commissioners, at that time, promptly rolled over and passed Ordinance No. 36.  We have had zoning since 1997, although It has not been enforced. 
A referendum petition was circulated, garnering approximately 2/3 of the validated signatures of county registered voters, demanding repeal of this ordinance.  Our county clerk at the time, refused to hold a special election, as mandated by state statutes, and was backed up by the state attorney general.  Both of these individuals were in violation of Idaho Code, which mandated that the clerk SHALL hold such an election upon validation of enough signatures.  I'd wager that the majority sentiment in the county, still rejects zoning.  Especially, zoning imposed by state/federal mandate.
A look at the list of Previous Idaho County ordinances will show that the zoning issue has re-surfaced several times, and was rejected by the people.  Once again, it rears its ugly head.  Our commissioners are in favor of personal property rights and are fighting to preserve them.  They will need our support, I'm sure. 
Good government originates from the bottom up.  Of late, we have evolved into government by federal & state mandates, and fiat edicts.  This only represents special interests in gaining control over the populace, and should not be accepted. 
Kudos, and a big "Atta Boy!" to our commissioners for their stance on this.

Dear Sir:
Hate speech is funny.  More often than not when people claim a person is guilty of hate speech is not that they really think the person is guilty of hatred   But it is more a clamp on free speech.  If we truly hate someone we harm our own souls more than them.
We just saw that very thing here in Coeur d’Alene.  Someone is going to talk about Islam, the history, and the good and the bad.  Since Islam is opposed to what we consider to be American culture, it is not hate speech to not want Islamic law for our own country, and to point out what has come from their actions e.g. 911, Iraq.
God hates certain things, like sin.  Here is a short list of what God hates: “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief.  A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”  (Proverbs 6: 16-19)

Redneck Review!
No. 215 - 6/10/2019
Not only space, but TIME is another mystery! Old Doc Orr told me when we first moved here and visited with his family: "Believe me, time speeds up as you grow old! Just wait and see!" Well, age has caught up with me, and the reality of his statement has hit me hard the past few years!  Just recently for example, I completely missed Mother's Day! Weeks later, I have still not finished my gift to her. But a glance at the calendar recently told me Father's Day is just around the corner! So a look ahead to that day and one back to earlier Mother's Day!
Following is a poem written by myself prior to Father's Day in 1984, and submitted to the Cottonwood Chronicle, under the title LET FREEDOM RING. Called then and now, THE TWO SIDES OF FATHER'S DAY, the first is,  To Fathers, the second,  From Fathers:
"Dear Dad, your day has come again, the time to stop and to review, The many things you've always been, to all us "kids," and to others too. Working hard from dawn 'til dark, being there to lend an ear, Restraining a bit your bite and bark, you almost laid on sobbing tears! As the years roll by we won't forget, though we're not so hot at saying so, All the things you've done are doing yet, that causes our love to grow and grow! So as time flies by and hair grows thin, our wish for you Dad will always be, That the Lord Himself will take you in, and grant you peace and rest for eternity!"
"Hey Kid, I've watched you thrive and slowly grow, from a cuddly babe in your mother's arms, To an over involved teenager always on the go, then a grown adult with a mother's charms. Yes, some times were rough, some days were fun, some news was good, some almost bad! Some nights were long, oh yes, very long...  before you were finally done! And, yes, some days were heartbreak, but far more other times left us very glad! So as days roll by to Father's Day, a hint to you for a gift for me, Give it every year until your hair turns gray, and I'll treasure it throughout eternity! Just make us proud that you're our kin, work hard,  be fair, be honest too, Stay in God's grace, steer clear of sin, be the best in everything you do! And when life is done, and with your prayer, to help us muddle our way "Up There," Down with pride we'll look on all of you, whose lives guarantee you'll join us too!
The following thoughts came to me reading this week's Tribune news! TODAY...
"My thoughts turn to MOTHERS, of the marvelous kind, they bring new life to our planet, usually one at a time! But never forget folks, that the moment of birth, brings pain to the mother, one of the greatest on earth! But when the ordeal is all over, and the babe utters its first cry,  Even the angels above us, stop for a moment and sigh! For the miracle of birth, folks, Is of the most marvelous kind,  Never can it be duplicated, by the efforts of
mankind! From the tiniest of matter, the new child starts to grow, In the warm womb of the mother, for some, nine months is too slow!! For on May 30th, the Tribune, reported an impatient small lass, About "the size of an apple!,"  leaving the doctors aghast! They told the girl's father, "she had about an hour to live," But at five lbs, and five months later, she has more happiness to give! For this miraculous of all babies, has been ranked "Number One!"  Of the world's smallest babies, that soon might be walking,  and run!"
HATS OFF to this mother, and all mother who give birth! Some with two or more together, and some with amazing BIG weights at their birth!
