Open Rodeo is this weekend
The Annual Winchester Open Rodeo is set for this Saturday and Sunday, July 6-7 at the Arena in the Pines near Winchester. It is an old-fashioned “Hang on the Fence” family rodeo featuring bull riding, bareback, saddle bronc, calf roping, open breakaway, chute doggin’, open barrels, kids’ tail tying/untying, jr. bulls, steer riding, mutton bustin’, jr. barrels and peewee barrels. There is also ranch bronc riding and women’s steer stopping. The Kelly Bowcutt/Gold Buckle Rodeo Company will be providing the stock. Check in time is 10 a.m. Saturday with the royalty luncheon set for 11:30. Grand Entry is at 2:15 with the rodeo set to start at 2:30 p.m. Sunday there will also be a cowboy breakfast at 7:30 a.m. with Cowboy Church at 1 p.m. followed by the rodeo at 2:30 p.m. again.
