Cottonwood
City Council meets
The Cottonwood City Council met with a light agenda for their September meeting Monday, Sept. 9. They agreed to hook up Carla Sisson to the new water main along East Rd. Pat Holthaus worried about setting some kind of precedent. City Attorney Joe Wright said their statutes say they can take out of town hookups on a case by case basis with one not having any influence on any future ones. The motion passed 2-1 with Don Munkers voting no. Mayor Pepper Harman read and signed a proclamation declaring Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week. They had 3 unpaid utility bills that were written off as bad debts as they were deemed uncollectable by city clerk Carol Altman. A resolution was read and passed to change the payroll dates for city employees from twice a month to bi-weekly. They also urged the employees to go with direct deposit. Mayor Harman said the direct deposit option is better as Altman doesn’t have to track down the mayor or council president, who both spend a fair amount of time out of town on business, to co-sign the checks. In the reports Police Chief Terry Cochran opened his report by presenting a “Challenge Coin” to Dustin Lustig for his assistance with the pursuit situation last week. In the water report Holthaus reported they pumped 8.5 million gallons and sold about 8.2 million for a loss of 2.7%. Roy Uhlenkott reported they were replacing a water line recently. Holthaus reported they had one bad water test but the retest came back good. There was nothing to report in the sewer, streets or airport departments. Linda Nida reported Jack Duman had painted 3 hall doors and they are ready to be installed. She is also getting a changing table for the hall bathrooms. Nida reported the fire department is getting some helmet flashlights ordered. They had no calls this past month. The meeting adjourned at 7:32. The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 15 due to the Columbus Day holiday on the usual Monday meeting date. |
