Cottonwood City Council meets
The Cottonwood City Council is looking into a possible alternate source of funding for the proposed stormwater project in downtown Cottonwood. This was discussed at the October meeting of the Council held Tuesday, Oct. 15.
They are looking into a USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service grant. The city has been looking into this project for the past couple of years as a way to mitigate future flooding when Cottonwood Creek sees high water due to rapid snow melt. 
The council received a letter of appreciation from Cottonwood School District to Roy Uhlenkott, Pat Holthaus and Dallas Paul for the work they helped with.
Councilman Don Munkers reviewed a letter received from the Association of Idaho Cities regarding federal water quality regulations. The council decided to join the coalition proposed by AIC to battle over-regulation. Cost to the city to join the coalition is $30 per year.
The Council approved a request by St. Mary’s Hospital for a hall rental waiver for the Halloween event they are planning. 
The Council also approved a 5% increase for police department employees and a 2% COLA increase for full-time employees of the city.
In reports Holthaus reported they pumped about 6 million gallons of water and sold 4.8 million. After subtracting water accounted for from the hydrants they had a 9.7% loss.
Jack Duman reported they city received a new roller for street repairs.
Duman also reported the city has been awarded the airport grant to be used for the run-up areas and a slurry seal.
The Council approved declaring 4 items as surplus property to be sold. They are listed in a legal notice on page 7.
In other business Terry Cochran reported the police and EMS will have a Halloween event at St. Mary’s Church parking lot.
The Lions Club sent a letter outlining a couple of proposed projects. They would like to put up a reader board at the hall and also build a pavilion at the City Park.
The next regular meeting of the Council is set for Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. This is a day later than the usual second Monday of the month due to the Veteran’s Day holiday.
