Two
qualify for State
The Cross Country team had 2 runners qualify for state at the District Meet held in Lewiston Thursday, Oct. 24. Ciara Chaffee finished 3rd in 21:02 and Kyleigh Duclos finished 6th in 21:49 as both qualified to compete in the State Meet set for Pocatello this Saturday, Nov. 2. The 1A girls race is set to start at 1:15 p.m. MDT. For the first time in 6 years, the girls did not qualify as a team as they finished fourth with the top 3 teams advancing to State. Prairie might have made it again if Mattie Lustig hadn’t missed the race due to the flu and Jessie Sonnen had been able to run for Prairie. Sonnen had to compete as a St. John Bosco Academy runner at District despite competing with the Prairie team all season. Sonnen finished 20th in 24:21 with Leann Lightfield finishing 24th in 24:30. Jacey Rambo 35th in 27:52 and Sierra Chapman 38th in 29:32. The top 14 finishers in the girls race all qualified for state as individuals. For the boys team they were down to just 2 runners due to injuries and defections. The top 17 finishers qualified for State with William Hooper coming closest with a 27th place finish in 20:04. Justin Lockett was 43rd in 22:21. Kyleigh Duclos and Ciara Chaffee with their medals from the District Cross Country Meet. They have qualified for the State Meet which will be in Pocatello Saturday, Nov. 2. Their race is set to start at 1:15 p.m. MDT.
