Election
is next Tuesday
City elections are set for next Tuesday, Nov. 5 in both Cottonwood and Ferdinand. Both have uncontested races for their open positions but unlike school boards and other taxing districts, cities have to run their elections regardless. In Cottonwood Linda Nida and Ben Schumacher are vying for two 4-year terms. Nida was appointed 2 years ago when newly elected councilor Daniel Sigler had an unexpected job change and moved out of town. Schumacher would fill the spot of Jack Duman who has decided to retire from the position. Don Munkers, who was appointed to the position when Lynn Guyer moved to Montana, is running for a 2-year term. In Ferdinand Ralph B. Wassmuth is running for the mayor position being vacated by Scott Oliver. There are two 4-year terms up for election with Lori Schmidt the only candidate on the ballot. Mary Ousnamer has filed as a write-in for the other position. Jessica Stewart is the only one running for the only 2-year position up for election. Maria Imhoff’s and Judy Forsman’s positions were up for election but both decided to retire. Polls will be open Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Cottonwood at the Community Hall and in Ferdinand at the Parish Hall. Cottonwood School District had 2 positions up for election but incumbents Tara Klapprich and Gus Hoene were the only ones to file so no election will be held. Sample ballots are below. |
