Letters
to the editor from this week's Chronicle:
Redneck Review!
No. 236 - 11/4/2019
Leaving "Pied Piper" warnings of GLOBAL WARMING behind, last week's
review asked the question: "Is there anything an ordinary person can do
to help provide solutions..." to the many problems facing our
society? Mentioned there were just a few: "Exploding debt,
hate and intolerance, crime and immorality, etc." Immediately
after, the suggestion was made, that recalling the documented
appearance of a heavenly lady in Fatima in 1917, proved historically in
October of that year, by a predicted "Sun Miracle," and an instant "dry
recovery" of a soaked 70,000 eye witnesses to the double miracle that occurred,
a person might respond to the requests made at the time by the "Lady of
Fatima!"
Of course, any such suggestion is "Old fashioned, out of date, not
Politically Correct" and of course, suggests that ridicule be heaped on
anyone who would suggest such a solution! This type of thing simply
is not part of the national narrative at this time! And you will
not find it a suggestion made at almost any level today, certainly not
from people in our government, and rarely if ever even by clergy in the
various churches that dot the land!
But wait just a minute! The event mentioned last week and above
DID OCCUR, Oct.17, 1917! And it is WELL DOCUMENTED! Even secular
sources like Google will tell the story of the event with a casual search!
And not only at Fatima, but at literally dozens of other sites around the
world similar events are documented: Lourdes, Guadalupe, La Salette,
Knock, Garabandal, Medjugorje, just to name a few! And MIRACLES resulting
from visitations to these sites are equally well documented down through
the centuries and the years!
So why the seeming BLACKOUT on these unusual events from the past,
and the results that can be proved associated with them? Submitted
here are two possible explanations!
1) Our nation and the world today is caught up in the belief that single
individuals are hapless in solving problems at any level! The "politically
correct" consensus is that governments and big central banks have the answers,
and that people as a group resemble dairy herds that need to be cared for
and regulated by the experts in charge! As such, "equality" of treatment,
and "equal access to the good things of earth" are preached, promoted,
and in many cases, forced on citizens, considered too naive and incapable
of caring for themselves. Two terms, SOCIALISM, and KEYNSIAN ECONOMICS
are two darlings behind such thinking!
2) For the theories above to work, a Creator God with a God-Man son,
Jesus Christ, with His 2000 year old religion, Christianity, must be discarded
on the ash pile of history. Associated morality rules like the TEN
COMMANDMENTS, and the greatest of all commandments, "Love God above
all things and neighbor as oneself" must also go! In a MODERN
society like ours in the U.S., even pictures, plaques, statues, and mementoes
of any kind supporting these time
honored beliefs ARE TABOO!
So again it might be asked, "What can the average individual do about
this situation?" Very simply, do not buy into the notion that individuals
are helpless! The Bible tells us that Abraham, in an attempt to save
Sodom and Gomorrah, was told God would relent if as few as ten good men
could be found! Result? Both DESTROYED! Or in Ch. 5 of
Jeremiah, the prophet was told by God that Jerusalem would be spared
if A MAN could be found! And all Christians have heard the promise made
by Christ Himself: "Ask of the Father anything in my name, and it
will be given to thee!" So could it be, that the solution to the problems
we face today is in the hands of you and me? Is individual
or group prayer the answer? Could that possibly be true?
