16
turn out for PHS girls basketball
There are 16 players out for basketball for the Prairie Lady Pirates team this year. They are led by seniors India Peery, Ciara Chaffee and Sydnee Bruegeman. Returning juniors from last year’s team are Madison Shears, Ellea Uhlenkott and Hope Schwartz. Sophomores on the varsity are Delanie Lockett and Josie Remacle. Two freshmen also made the varsity team: Tara Schlader and Kristin Wemhoff. Remacle and Schwartz are swing players who will also see JV playing time. Also on the JV are sophomores Ali Rehder, Olivia Klapprich, Laney Forsmann and Molly Johnson and freshmen Chloe Rowland and Riley Enneking. Lori Mader continues as head coach with Steve Wilson as assistant coach and David Shears as the JV coach. Prairie should be competitive again this year for a state berth with Lapwai and Genesee likely considered the favorites. Prairie’s first game was this past Tuesday against Kamiah. The rest of the schedule is below. Prairie is trying to get some additional JV games scheduled as Orofino, Salmon River and Troy do not have JV teams and Kamiah and C.V. only have enough players for a 2 quarter JV game.
