Some photo highlights from 2019

A couple of buildings were and still are being remodeled in Cottonwood in 2019. In the top photo new grout was added to the old Royale Room building as it is being remodeled. The lower photo shows the old school district offices from last April, which are being remodeled into the “Sisters Apartments.” Currently all the windows have been installed and the access ramp is now taking shape.Click on each photo for a larger view.

We had a lot of flooding over night and early morning of Tuesday, April 9. The top photo, by Rick Johnson, shows a big chunk of Graves Creek Road that was taken out by an overflowing Graves Creek. The middle photo by Cottonwood Police Chief Terry Cochran shows the city crew and fire department placing sandbags at about 3 a.m.  The bottom  shows water still on the street and sandbagging at Fred’s Body Shop at about 8:30 a.m. Click on each photo for a larger view.

Above are the Prairie Pirates with the State Championship banner and trophy after beating Potlatch Saturday, March 2 at Nampa. Kneeling from left are Sam Mager, Devin Ross, Kyle Schwartz and Brody Hasselstrom. Standing from left are Dean Johnson, Owen Anderson, Damian Forsmann, Cole Schlader, Spencer Schumacher, Dylan Schumacher, Hayden Uhlenkott, Zach Rambo, Tayler Ott and Derik Shears. Coaches were head coach Kevin Chaffee and assistant coach Todd Nygaard. The basketball team took the long way to the title as they finished second in league but third in district and had to play 4 games in 7 days in 4 different cities just to get to State.

The Prairie football team with the state championship trophy and banner after beating Lost Rivers 26-6 on Friday, Nov. 22 at the Kibbie Dome. Football team members, not in the order shown, were Tayden Hibbard, Lane Schumacher, Dalton Ross, Derik Shears, Zach Rambo, John Gehring, Cole Schlader, Damian Forsmann and Dean Johnson. Second row from left:  Quirt Goeckner, Jesse Cronan, Cole Martin, Hayden Uhlenkott, Owen Anderson, Colton McElroy. Brody Hasselstrom, Shane Hanson and Sam Mager. Brandon Kindrick, Matt Coppernoll, Wes Tucker-Hall, Hunter Leal, Keenan Shears, Ryan Wemhoff, Reid Uptmor and Carson Forsman. Coaches were head coach Ryan Hasselstrom and assistant coaches Matt Elven and  Teel Bruner. Unlike the basketball team which took the hard way to state , the football team won big over every opponent with the state championship game being their only game closer than 28 points. The Pirates trailed only once all season, when Genesee scored first before losing 88-6. Click on each photo for a larger view.

Another noteworthy event in 2019 was the Cottonwood Gun Club winning the annual 10-Week Shoot. This photo is from the April 11 edition of  the Chronicle. Click on the  photo for a larger view.
