The
2019 state football champion Prairie football team were named the North
Idaho boys high school team of the year for Class 1A-3A by the North
Idaho Athletic Hall of Fame (NIAHOF) Saturday.
They actually shared the honor with the 1A-D2 undefeated state basketball champions from Lakeside High School in Plummer.
Also honored by the NIAHOF was
Cole Martin (pictured below) who was named as the Class 1A-3A football player of the
year. He beat out, among others, teammate Derik Shears.
Also
nominated from Prairie was football coach Ryan Hasselstrom for boys
high school coach of the year. He lost out to Potlatch baseball coach
Jim Shepherd. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Some more vintage photos provided by Don Kopczynski
A
couple of photos of the old St. Mary’s Church in Cottonwood. Apparently
the smaller steepled building in the top photo was the original St.
Joseph’s School while the lower photo shows a larger 2-story structure.

Our
Lady of Consolation Hospital. From the look of the cars probably early
1950’s. The watermark on the photo shows it was taken by Len Kuther
when he owned the photography studio in town. Photo courtesy of Don
Kopczynski. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Another
vintage photo of Main Street in Cottonwood. It appears to be looking
west as that looks like the old Cottonwood Hotel on the left and the
old K.C. Hall on the right. Further down the right side where the
awnings are is the Simon Bros. Meat Market at the intersection with
King Street. Photo courtesy of Don Kopczynski. Click on the photo for a
larger view.
