Cottonwood City Council approves budget The Cottonwood City Council held a budget hearing Monday, August 3 and approved the budget for Fiscal Year 2021 which starts October 1, 2020. The council also approved Solid Waste Resolution 2020-4 and Water Rate Resolution 2020-5, each of which adds a small increase to utility fees. The solid waste increase is 6 cents per month while the base water rate will increase by $2. In other business the council approved contracts with JUB Engineers for a Wastewater Facilities Plan and for General Engineering Services. The first has an estimated cost of just under $25,000 while the second will be for an estimated $8,000. Councilman Don Munkers had some questions on the second contract but had no overall concerns with it. Another item on the agenda was a request to use the Wimer Fields as backup fields for a softball tournament to be held in Grangeville August 29-30. After discussion the council voted 2-2 with Mayor Pepper Harman voting no to break the tie. The special meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. The council will have their regular August meeting next Monday, August 10 at 7 p.m. |
