While project work is important, club work, leadership, public speaking, and community service are also a large part of the over-all 4-H program. That is 30 fewer animals than last year but the gross receipts were $78,140 higher than last year at $329,961.80. 51 lambs averaged $11.31 per pound for an average of $1,427.49 per head with a total gross of $72,802.00. All the lambs were turned this year as the area butchers were so booked up already that they couldn’t take any lambs. 3 goats sold for an average price of $17.35 per pound for a $1,324.67 average per head price. Total gross was $3,974. 96 hogs were for an average o $6.25 per pound or $1,688.79 per head for a total gross of $162,124. 25 steers went for an average of $2.75 per pound for a $3,642.47 per head price and a $91,061.80 gross. 4 hogs and 1 steer were donated to local food banks. 2 hogs went to the Grangeville Senior Center. 1 hog was donated to Prairie Mountain Nutrition and 1 hog was donated to the Grangeville Veterans Center. Mason Klapprich was grand champion both for quality and fitting and showing for market steers. He was also the senior grand champion showman Riley Enneking had the reserve champion quality steer and was also reserve champion showman and reserve champion senior showman. Sawyer Astle had the grand champion quality market swine. Tamden Pecarovich hd the reserve champion quality market swine. Taryn Godfrey was grand champion showman for swine as well as grand champion senior showman. Hailey Hanson was reserve champion showman for swine and grand champion intermediate showman. Taylor Bransford had the grand champion quality sheep and was reserve champion shown and reserve champion senior showman. Audtey Tucker had the reserve champion quality sheep. Naomi Connolley was grand champion showman for sheep and grand champion senior showman. Miranda Klapprich had the grand champion quality goat. Grace Kaschmitter had the reserve champion quality goat. Sierra Oliver was grand champion round robin showman for her dairy beef entry. Here she is showing her sheep. Rebecca Seubert was grand champion intermediate showman for steers.
