District Volleyball and Cross Country set for next week
VOLLEYBALL
To allow some teams to make up postponed matches due to coronavirus
issues the District Volleyball Tournament will not start until Tuesday,
Oct. 20.
Matches will be played at the gyms of the higher seeds. The first two rounds will be at the top two seeds, Troy and Genesee. At top seeded Troy the #4 and #5 seeds will play at 5 p.m. with the winner taking on Troy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Also on Tuesday #3 will play #6 at 5 p.m. with the winner taking on Genesee at 7:30 p.m. at Genesee. Wednesday’s 2 matches are played at the higher seed’s gym. One is a loser out of the Tuesday late matches and the other is a matchup of the late Tuesday winners. Both matches are to start at 7 p.m. Another loser out match is set for Thursday at the higher seed’s gym at 7 p.m. That winner will play the Wednesday winners matchup winner on Saturday at 7 p.m. Both of the teams playing on Saturday advance to State with the winner as the #1 and the loser as the #2. Only 2 teams advance to State from our District this year. State this year will be at Jerome High School. Prairie will go into the tournament as the #3 seed and will play Kamiah at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Genesee. CROSS COUNTRY
The District Cross Country Meet will be held Thursday, Oct. 22 at the LCSC Cross Country Course in the Lewiston Orchards.
This is the same course where the Inland Empire Challenge was held Oct. 3 and the Logos Invitational was held Oct. 13. The 1A girls race will start at 2:00 p.m. followed by the 1A boys race at 2:45 p.m. The top 50% of full teams racing qualify for state. If there are an odd number of teams competing you’ll get an extra qualifier such as the top 4 teams would qualify for state if there are 7 teams competing. If your team doesn’t qualify, the top 1/3 finishers of all runners competing will qualify as individuals. |
