Idaho County election results The Chronicle went to press well before the polls closed last Tuesday so we had to wait a week to give you election results. At the Idaho County level there were two contested races. Republican Ted Lindsley easily outpolled independent candidate Joe Cladouhos for the Second District County Commissioner post with 82.16% of the vote, 7,500 to 1,628, or 82.16% Also Republican Doug Ulmer easily outpolled independent Casey M. Zechmann Sr. for Idaho County Sheriff with 85.74% of the vote, 8,024 to 1,335. Republican incumbent R. Skipper “Skip” Brandt ran unopposed for First District County Commissioner and received 7,613 votes while Republic Kirk McGregor ran unopposed for Prosecuting Attorney and received 8,048 votes. The three State Legislative positions were all won by unopposed Republicans. Carl Crabtree was re-elected as District 7 State Senator with 8,302 votes. Priscilla Giddings was re-elected to Seat A as District 7 Representative with 7,623 votes. Charlie Shepherd was elected to District 7 State Representative Seat B with 8,032 votes. He succeeded his father Paul Shepherd in that post. In the statewide races, Republican Jim Risch was re-elected as U.S. Senator. In Idaho County he polled 80.47% of the vote with 7,629. Democrat Paulette Jordan received 1,532 votes, 16.16%. Constitution Party nominee Ray J. Writz received 106 votes and independent Natalie M. Fleming received 214 votes. Risch had 62.58% of the vote statwide. Republican Russ Fulcher also won re-election as U.S. Representative for District 1. In Idaho County he received 81.22% of the vote for a tally o 7,604 votes. Democrat Rudy Soto received 1,508 votes and Libertarian Joe Evans received 250 votes. In the First District results, Fulcher won with 67.78% of the vote. Statewide President Donald J. Trump won Idaho’s 4 electoral votes but appears to have lost nationwide to Democrat Joseph R. Biden. In Idaho County Trump received 7,626 votes, 81.50% to 1,561 for Biden, 16.26%. Libertarian Jo Jorgensen received 118 votes. Constitution Party nominee Don Blankenship received 25 votes. Independents Brock Pierce, Kany West and Rocky De La Fuente received 35, 23 and 14 votes respectively. Trump had 63.88% of the vote statewide to 33.09% for Biden. The only ballot issue this time was HJR 4, a proposed Idaho Constitutional amendment to lock in the number of legislative districts at the current 35. In Idaho County it received 5,745 yes votes to 2,998 no votes for 65.71% yes. It also passed statewide with 67.96% of the vote. |
