25 years of service at NICI Kenny Mader has primarily lived most of his life in the Cottonwood community. He has been involved in many community activities over the years. He coached junior high football for seven years and was truly invested in the kids he coached. Kenny has been the statistic keeper for the high school girls’ basketball team for many years and his sister, Lori is the coach. Anything Kenny is involved in he is truly committed to and puts his efforts towards accomplishing the task. In addition to being involved in Cottonwood sports he spends his off time working at the Cottonwood Sales Yard. He grew up around livestock and enjoys being involved in the cattle industry. Kenny’s mother, Ingrid Mader worked at North Idaho Correctional Institution (NICI) and encouraged Kenney to apply as a correctional officer 25 years ago which he did and has been employed with the department of corrections since that time. He started his correctional officer career working at Idaho Correctional Institution Orofino (ICIO) where he worked for six months and transferred to NICI. Staff at NICI appreciate Kenny’s knowledge, experience and positive attitude. He is always willing to help and ensures tasks are completed. Kenny’s current supervisor SGT. Parker stated that “Kenny Mader is the glue that holds their shift together”. Kenney is known for always giving 100% to any task assigned to him and does so with a friendly demeanor and without complaint. Kenney’s contribution to the team at NICI is commendable and he truly makes a difference in the lives of those incarcerated at NICI . He is a valued employee at NICI, and his 25 years of service is greatly appreciated. Outside of work Kenny spends time with his family, friends and enjoys camping, 4 wheeling at Red River and watching sporting events. Kenny is active in his community and always has a friendly smile and never forgets a name or face of anyone he has met.
