94 units collected “This community is truly amazing and we fell just 3 units shy from hitting our goal at our last drive on January 26, 2021,” commented Brenda Kaschmitter, blood drive co-chair. “Our goal was 97 and we collected 94 usable units”. Even though most of our donors had a long wait, most of them sat and waited for their turn to donate that lifesaving pint of blood! We are working hard with Vitalant to get these issues ironed out, so that we don’t have this type of thing happen again! “Once again a big thank you to all the wonderful volunteers; without them this blood drive would not be possible; Linda Arnzen, Lydia Deiss, Judy Forsman, Kathy Kuther, Joyce Lorentz, Mary Lorentz, Kathy Stubbers, Sylvia Uhling, Theresa Uptmor and VFW Post 491” said Donna Quick, blood drive co-chair. “The volunteer duties include, putting up signs, making lunch for the Vitalant workers, checking in and escorting donors, and offering maple bars, water and juice. We truly have the greatest volunteers around.” said Quick. Co-chairs; Brenda and Donna would also like thank the 33 dedicated employees of St. Mary’s Hospital for their wonderful support of the blood drive for coming in and donating, we couldn’t do this without them! Similarly a big thank you to St. Mary’s Hospital for sponsoring our blood drive and for purchasing the maple bars that the donors enjoy after giving blood. We also had 3 first time donors, Vanessa Corey and Mariah Evans (from St. Mary’s Hospital), and Melody Temes (from Clearwater Valley Hospital). We are always grateful to our first time donors and hope this will now become a lifelong habit for them. As a way to show our appreciation we drew 5 names from all the donors that showed up to donate that day and gave away $25 gift cards to those 5 lucky winners. Congratulations to Kelsie Duman, Lisa Hasselstrom, Cheyenne Mauer, Maurice Seubert and Chivana Young. The next blood drive will be held on April 13, 2021; if you would like to make an appointment to give that day please contact Brenda Kaschmitter at 962-3251 or you can self-schedule by going online at www.vitalant.org. |
