Schumacher resigns from Cottonwood Council The Cottonwood City Council met Monday, April 12 for their regular April meeting. At the meeting Ben Schumacher’s resignation from the Council was accepted. The Council will be seeking someone to fill that position. Amy Uptmor and John Watson from JUB Engineers were present. Uptmor talked about the IPDES permits (for sewer discharge) and said the state is probably not going to allow much leeway. Watson talked about the NRCS project. They are looking at the routing of pipes. Another guest in attendance was Idaho County Sheriff Doug Ulmer. He talked about some of the changes being made with the Sheriff’s Department. Minimal changes to the flood ordinance suggested by FEMA were discussed per ZOOM meeting with Suzanne Sarpong of FEMA on March 16. The council approved making the minimum of changes needed to meet her requests. City Attorney Joe Wright also suggested looking at the building code ordinance for any updates that may need to be made. Joe Didier’s listing for property on Clark Street was discussed. He has it listed as a commercial property although it is in zone B residential. No action was taken. The FY 2022 budget hearing date was set for Monday, July 26. An offer to purchase the city’s cell tower site lease was rejected by the council. A catering permit for the Cottonwood Summer Fest Taco Feed set for Saturday, April 24 at the Community Hall was approved Hours will be 5 p.m. to midnight. A list of surplus property to be sold was approved. This list can be found in the notice on page 7. Roy Uhlenkott talked about some more information he has received on sewer requirements. No action has been taken as yet on putting these into ordinance form. The council also approved going with an online vendor for any surplus property that is still unsold once going through the legal channels required. Govdeals.com was approved. The seller sets the price and the purchaser would cover that price plus the surcharge added by the site. In reports Pat Holthaus reported they estimated 4.2 million gallons pumped with 3.6 million sold for 15% loss. In land and buildings Linda Nida reported she is looking into the senior citizens request for a chair lift on the stairs. She is also looking into installing an EV charging station and is discussing the possibility with Avista. The VFW is also looking into a pavilion for the city park. The fire department had 2 calls, a dumpster fire and a power pole fire. At a special meeting held March 11 the council discussed a request by St. John Bosco Academy for out-of-town water and sewer service for the existing facility and for a new gym/theater facility. Denis Duman for Arnzen Building Construction and Alex Frei and Kim Frei from SJB were in attendance. They were also looking for a fire hydrant for fire protection. A discussion was held on the request including the installation of a sprinkler system and the feasibility of the project. St John Bosco would incur all costs for the project, elevations, size of line, maintenance of the line, easements for the line. A motion was made and passed by the council to approve the project. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, May 10 at 7 p.m. |
