According to the report by Cottonwood Police Chief Terry Cochran, “On Tuesday, June 8th at about 12:05 PM a white 2011 Toyota Tacoma owned by Dennis Greene was parked at 505 King Street.  The vehicle had inadvertently been left in neutral and proceeded to roll South on King crossing the intersection of Front and continuing down across Main Street where it struck a flower planter, broke off the support post for the sidewalk awning, and hit the front window and frame of Mager Bargains (the old Hoene Hardware building) breaking part of the front woodwork as well as the window. The vehicle was operational after the crash, and was driven off by Greene.” Cochran is shown talking to Lydia Deiss in the photo. Many probably remember a past incident with a vehicle trying to enter Hoene Hardware. We think that happened in the mid to late 1990’s but have yet to find the actual date. The busted plate glass window at Mager Bargains (formerly Hoene Hardware) that resulted from the accident shown in the top photo. Click on the photo for a larger view.

After the pickup had been driven away you can see the broken 6x6 post and the planter pushed off the dark spot in the sidewalk and back into the bench. The broken window is the one where the sign is hanging askew. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Scott Ross and his son Wyatt of Graves Creek Construction happened to be driving by and saw the commotion and offered to at least get the broken 6x6 post replaced and helped with boarding up the broken window at Mager Bargains last Tuesday, June 8. Click on the photo for a larger view.
