“We would like to invite everyone to Border Days July 1, 2 and 3, for the rodeos, and July 2, 3 and 4 for the parades and everything in between!” said Border Days Queen Camden Barger.
Barger, 17, will be a senior at Grangeville High School this fall. She is the daughter of Kevin and Michelle Barger, and the granddaughter of Jim and Judy Barger and Jim and Deb DeKaye, all of Grangeville. She has two siblings, brother, Caleb Barger, 19, and sister, Caryss Barger, 13.
“I have had a great time this year, spending time with Macy and her family, and getting to see all the little girls smile at us as we ride by in the parades,” she said.
Barger’s trusty equine friend is her14-year-old quarter horse, Gracie.
Barger has been involved in Triple Bar Drill Team as a leader (and past queen), HOSA, ASB vice-president, varsity basketball, softball and volleyball, FFA, National Honor Society and STEM. She is also a member of youth group at Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
Following high school graduation, Barger plans to attend college and pursue a degree in the medical field. Her involvement in advanced science courses and awards and honors in the State of Idaho Science and Engineering Fair have been helping prepare her for her future: She and partner, Bailey Vanderwall, recently won “best in fair” at the state competition and went on to nationals.
