Blood drive nets 77 pints
The
goal for the Cottonwood Community Blood drive this time was 85 pints,
but we were only able to collect 77. We had 91 donors sign in, and out
of those we were only able to collect 77 pints of blood. Our drives
that are held in the summer months usually do fall short of our goal
either due to it being hay season, or people on vacations. But
unfortunately the demand for blood is usually higher in the summer
months which causes a shortage of blood on hand. “We are still very
thankful for this community that comes out time after time to donate”
commented Brenda Kaschmitter, blood drive co-chair.
“We would like to extend a huge thank you to our first time donors, Nick Brotzman, Kourtne Carpenter, Lisa Labrum, Alex McElroy, and Kim Nuxoll; hopefully this will now become a lifetime practice for all of them,” Kaschmitter added! “And once again we need to thank our great volunteers; without them this blood drive would not be possible; Judy Forsman, Kathy Kuther, Joyce Lorentz, Kathy Stubbers, Theresa Uptmor, and Sylvia Uhling” said Donna Quick, blood drive co-chair. “The volunteer duties include, making lunch for the Vitalant workers, checking in and escorting donors, and offering maple bars, water and juice. We have the best volunteers around.” said Donna. Co-chairs; Brenda and Donna would also like thank St. Mary’s Health for the maple bars that the donors enjoy after giving blood. The next blood drive will be held on August 24, 2021; if you would like to make an appointment to give that day please contact Brenda Kaschmitter at 962-3251 or you self-schedule by going online at www.vitalant.org.
