Cross Country team at Seaport Invite
The Prairie Cross Country team got their season started at the Seaport Invite in Clarkston Saturday, Sept. 11.
They were supposed to compete at Nezperce on Sept. 9 but that meet got postponed to Sept. 21 due to illness at Nezperce.
The top finishing high school runner was freshman Matthew Wemhoff who finished 26th in 21:11.38. He was fourth among Idaho 1A runners competing.
Cole Duclos finished 39th in 25:56.71 and Morgan Poxleitner was 40th in 27:13.09. Duclos is also a freshman and Poxleitner is a junior.
Kyle Schwartz, a senior, was unable to compete due to an injury.
For the high school girls freshman Natalie Goeckner was Prairie’s top finisher with a 34th place finish in 28:35.42.
Katteri Duman was right behind in 35th at 29:24.82. Elizabeth Severns was 37th in 31:26.43 and Meghan Fowler was 40th in 35:49.80. Duman is a senior, Severns is a sophomore and Fowler is a freshman.
The 3 junior high girls were unable to compete for a variety of reasons.
The junior high boys had enough runners to have a team score as they were 9th as a team.
Ben Secrest was the top finisher in 39th with a time of 11:08.63 over the 1.5 mile course. High School runs a 3.1 mile course.
Jackson Enneking was 56th in 11:30.32. Chase VonBargen was 63rd in 11:59.11. Nate Forsmann was 79th in 12:45.27. Landon Riener was 87th in 13:21.45. George Villamor was 106th in 15:10.06 and Gabe Decaria was 108th in 15:13.28.
Villamor and Decaria are 7th graders while the rest are 8th graders.
