ST. JOHN BOSCO 2021 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE
The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots won 2 of 3 matches this past week. They swept Meadows Valley, Sept. 8, got swept by Kendrick, Sept. 9 at Cottonwood and won in 5 at Nezperce, Sept. 13. Vs. Meadows Valley
In their first home match of the season the Lady Patriots swept Meadows
Valley 25-17, 25-6, 25-16 at Cottonwood Wednesday, Sept. 8.
Raylie Warren and Jade Prigge were the big serving stars of the match as they ended each of the first two games with long serving runs. Warren finished the first game with a run of 9 straight while Prigge ended the second with a run of 11 straight. Julia Wassmuth also had a big serving run in the second game. The first game started tough for the Patriots as they fell behind 6-10. A net violation by Meadows Valley sent Prigge to the service line and she served the Patriots to a 12-10 lead. She had 3 aces while Sarah Waters added a pair of kills. The lead didn’t last long as Meadows Valley scored the next 3 points to retake the lead and were up 15-17 when Prigge scored a kill on a set from Noelle Chmelik. Warren then went to the service line and served St. John Bosco to the win. Warren had 7 aces in her run of 9 points while Waters and Prigge each added a kill. The Patriots took control of the second game much earlier. Meadows Valley had tied the score at 5-5 then Prigge scored a kill with Wassmuth going back to serve. Wassmuth served the Patriots to a 13-5 lead with an 8-point run. She had 4 aces with Waters adding 2 kills and Prigge 1. Meadows Valley scored a sideout but Prigge answered with a kill and then served out the game as St. John Bosco finished off a 20-1 run after it was tied at 5-5. Prigge had 8 aces while Dani Sonnen scored 2 kills and Waters 1. In the third game Meadows Valley jumped out to a 1-3 lead before Chmelik scored a kill on a pass from Prigge. Rachel Sonnen then served the Patriots into an 8-3 lead. She had 4 aces while Warren had 2 kills. Meadows Valley fought back and each side scored several sideouts. At 10-8 the Mountaineers missed a serve and Warren stepped up with 5 straight aces for a 16-8 lead. Over the next several points all but 3 of Bosco’s points came on sideouts. Dani Sonnen had a kill and Makayla Rose and Waters each had an ace to make it 22-11. Meadows Valley cut the lead to 22-15 before a sideout kill by Waters made it 23-15. A missed serve by Bosco was followed by a kill by Warren to get to match point and Prigge then served up an ace to end it. For the match Prigge had 7 kills, 1 assist and 12 aces. Waters had 7 kills, 2 assists and 1 ace. Dani Sonnen had 6 kills. Warren had 4 kills, 1 assist and 14 aces. Wassmuth had 2 kills, 14 assists and 5 aces. Rose had 2 kills and 1 ace. The Lady Patriots hosted Kendrick on Thursday, Sept. 9 and got swept in their league opener, 9-25, 15-25, 20-25.
At Nezperce
In a rescheduling of the match originally scheduled for August 26, The
Lady Patriots beat Nezperce 24-26, 25-11, 25-8, 21-25, 15-13.
