Cross Country team at two meets
Prairie participated in two cross country meets this past week. On Tuesday, Oct. 5, they competed at the twice postponed Nezperce Meet and on Saturday, Oct. 9, they were at the Inland Empire Invitational at Lewiston.
Matthew Wemhoff placed second in the high school boys race with a time of 20:14.4. Cole Duclos was 14^th in 24:24.7 and Morgan Poxleitner was 15^th in 24:25.2. Kyle Schwartz was unable to finish due to injury.
In the girls high school race Natalie Goeckner was Prairie’s top finisher in 9^th place with a time of 28:40.7. Katteri Duman was 10^th in 29:01.0 and Elizabeth Severns was 12^th in 30:21.1.
Olivia Uhlenkott finished in 1^st in the junior high girls race in a time of 13:05.2. Evelyn Gehring was third in 13:46.7 while Alaina Lustig was 7^th in 14:49.1.
Ben Secrest placed 2^nd in the junior high boys race with a time of 12:08.7. Jackson Enneking was 7^th in 13:28.0. Chase VonBargen was 9^th in 14:03.3. Landon Riener was 11^th in 14:22.6. Max Rehder was 13^th in 14:57.2. Nate Forsmann was 16^th in 16:23.0. George Villamor was 18^th in 17:10.5 and Gabe Dicaria was 19^th in 18:11.1. As a team they placed 1^st ahead of Nezperce with 25 points while Nezperce had 31.
At the Inland Empire Meet Goeckner was the high school team’s top finisher with a 15^th place in the girls JV race in a time of 24:50 while Duman was 21^st in 25:33 and Meghan Fowler was 35th in 30:00.
In the boys high school JV race Wemhoff placed 21^st in 18:37. Schwartz finished 27^th in 18:56. Duclos was 79^th in 21:35 and Poxleitner was 85^th in 22:02.
Prairie’s top finisher on the day was Secrest in the boys junior high race. He placed 7^th in 9:25 on the 2500 meter course, which is 500 meters shorter than the usual junior high race. VonBargen finished 36^th in 10:18. Enneking was 39^th in 10:23. Riener was 76^th in 11:38. Rehder was 87^th in 11:58. Forsmann was 95^th in 12:39. Villamor was 98^th in 13:00 and Dicaria was 114^th in 14:39. As a team they placed 7^th out of 9 teams with 157 pts.
In the junior high girls race Uhlenkott placed 27^th in 11:02. Gehring was 29^th in 11:07 and Lustig was 32^nd in 11:17.
