Semi and trailer crash into Arnzen Drug On Monday, October 18, 2021, at approximately 9:52 AM, Cottonwood Police responded to a crash on Broadway Street in Cottonwood. A 1975 Kenworth Truck pulling a trailer fully loaded with asphalt, driven by Larry Bower of Buhl, Idaho was southbound on Broadway Street. The driver stopped near the intersection of Broadway and 2nd South to check his brakes. The truck and trailer began rolling backwards down Broadway Street. The driver attempted to apply his brakes, however, they were not effective. He then placed the truck in gear, resulting in breaking the driveshaft from the vehicle and puncturing the fuel tank. The truck and trailer continued north down Broadway Street past 1st South Street and swerved into the parking area of the northbound lane alongside Arnzen Drug. The trailer struck a parked 2014 Toyota Sequoia owned by Kellie Bruner of Cottonwood, and a parked 2017 GMC Sierra owned by David and Katherine Frei of Cottonwood. The trailer and the GMC then proceeded through the west wall of Arnzen Drug injuring Loycie Sonnen, who was working inside the building at the time. Assistance was provided by St. Mary’s Hospital Ambulance and the Idaho County Sheriff's Office. Frank’s Towing and Fred's Towing responded to assist with the removal of the truck and the two damaged vehicles. Arnzen Building Construction crews responded to assist with the building. Cottonwood PD would also like to thank the numerous volunteers who assisted at the scene, and we are very fortunate as a community that no one was seriously injured in this accident. A
truck with a loaded belly dump trailer slid down Broadway St. clipped
an SUV and then slammed a pickup into the side of Arnzen Drug on Monday
morning just before 10 a.m.
If the pickup hadn’t blunted the blow the trailer might have taken out the whole corner of the Arnzen building. A couple of views of the inside of Arnzen Drug where the pickup was pushed through the all. A Skytrak, left, was used to keep the wall from collapsing as the pickup was removed by Fred’s Body Shop from the western wall of Arnzen Drug. |
