Elections set for Tuesday Election Day is next Tuesday, Nov. 2. Only contested races need to hold elections at this time. The City of Cottonwood has 3 council positions with contested races and Cottonwood School District zone 5 has 3 contestants for 1 position. In Cottonwood Pat Holthaus and Lynn Guyer’s seats are up for election. Holthaus did not file for re-election. Guyer, Keith Holcomb and Brett Miller are running for the two 4-year terms. Kristie Poxleitner Holthaus and Debby O’Neill are vying for one 2-year position. They are vying for the seat currently held by Holcomb, who is running for one of the 4-year terms. The mayor position is up for election too but nobody filed for the position. The new mayor will be appointed by the council. Linda Nida’s position is the only one not up for election. The City of Ferdinand does not have any contested positions so does not have to hold an election. In the school board trustee election there are 3 people vying for the Zone #5 position. They are incumbent Pat Alfrey and challengers Justyn Hanson and Casey Forsmann. Only those living within the boundaries of Trustee Zone 5 will be allowed to vote on this race. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. next Tuesday. Election results won’t appear in the Chronicle until the following week as we go to press well before the polls close. Sample ballots are below.
