Lady Patriots finish 4th at District
ST. JOHN BOSCO 2021 VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE
The St. John Bosco Lady Patriots had a long day Saturday at the District Tournament as they were the only team to play 3 matches, all at Kendrick. They opened with a sweep of #5 seeded Nezperce 25-10, 25-12, 27-25. Next up was top-seeded Kendrick and they got swept 15-25, 19-25, 18-25. That put them into the last match of the day (after having played in the first match as well) and they eliminated #6 seeded Timberline17-25, 25-13, 25-12, 25-22 to advance to Monday’s action at the LCSC Activity Center. On Monday they lost to Deary, 1 game to 3, no scores available, to wind up fourth at District. We don’t have much info on the Nezperce or Kendrick matches other than the scores. We were able to attend the Timberline match: St. John Bosco got off to a rough start against Timberline probably due to it being their third match of the day and only the second for Timberline. Bosco fell behind 0-4 but were able to tie at 5-5. However they were never able to take the lead in the opening game and wound up falling behind by 10 at 8-18. They got back within 4 at 15-19 before losing by 8. The second game it was back and forth early then Noelle Chmelik went to serve with the score at 10-9 and serve Bosco to a 13-9 lead with an ace and a kill each by Sarah Waters and Dani Sonnen. After 4 straight sideouts, Waters served 2 aces with a kill by Jade Prigge that gave the Patriots an 18-11 lead. Julia Wassmuth took over at the service line at 19-13 and served out the game to tie the match at 1 game each. She had 2 aces while Rayley Warren had 3 kills. In game 3, Bosco took control after a kill by Chmelik for a sideout made it 3-3. Dani sonnen then served 8 straight points, 4 of them on aces, for an 11-3 lead. Prigge had 3 kills and Waters also had a kill in that run. That put the Patriots in control of that game and they went on to win by 13. In the fourth game Timberline took a 7-16 lead and looked to be headed toward forcing a game 5. Dani Sonnen served 4 straight points with 3 aces and a kill by Prigge to pull the Patriots within 4 at 12-16. After 4 straight sideouts, Julia Wassmuth put a serving run together as Bosco took a 20-18 lead. She had 2 aces while Prigge had 3 kills and Warren had a kill as well. Timberline tied the score at 21 before bricking a serve. A kill by Waters and an ace by Warren got Bosco to match point at 24-21. After a sideout, Timberline netted the next serve to give the Patriots the match. Prigge had 21 kills in the match. Waters had 15 kills, 3 assists and 2 aces. Dani Sonnen had 7 kills and 9 aces. Warren had 5 kills, 2 assists and 4 aces. Rachel Sonnen had 2 kills and 1 ace. Makayla Rose had 2 kills and 1 assist. Chmelik had 2 kills, 28 assists and 2 aces.
