Hoop Shoot is held Cottonwood School District held their preliminaries for the Elks Club Hoop Shoot recently. 1st Place Preliminary Qualifiers are: Girl 8-9 age division winner: Bailey Schumacher; Girl 10-11 age division winner: Victoria Shears; Girl 12-13 age division winner: Hailey Hanson; Boy 8-9 age division winner: Michael Forsmann; Boy 10-11 age division winner: Austin Labrum; Boy 12-13 age division winner: Riley Shears 2nd Place Preliminary Qualifiers at Prairie Elementary: Girl 8-9 age division winner: Leighton Uhlenkott; Girl 10-11 age division winner: Rebeka Shears; Boy 8-9 age division winner: Jett Lorentz; Boy 10-11 age division winner: Hank Harman Congratulations to all these students on their Preliminary level win! The first place students will be representing Prairie in the National Elks Hoop Shoot contest on December 11th, 2021 in Grangeville during the “Lodge” level competition. The second place winners will be able to compete in their qualifying age division only if the first place winner is not available to compete. The Elks Hoop Shoot is a free throw contest for children ages 8 to 13 and this year marks its 50th anniversary as a national program. The program is free to all contestants and provides youth an opportunity to showcase their skills, represent their local school and community, as well as travel, compete, and succeed through perseverance and healthy competition.
