Letters
to the editor from this week's Chronicle To the Editor What Christmas Will Children Have in the Future?
Elected officials are freely
dispensing large amounts of money to fund Covid programs and stimulus
checks. Children will repay most, if not all, of this ‘debt’ in
the future. Do elected officials dislike children or
grandchildren? Who’s the bully? Children can’t even vote to say
‘No’ to the plundering of their future piggy banks. Using
other people’s money ‘for a good cause’ without their consent is wrong
even if it’s legal. Such policies teach and reinforce
legalized plunder. The healthy adage, “Thou Shalt not Steal”
applies. Such behavior makes us weaker instead of stronger.
Stealing becomes an excuse for our comfort today. Some say it’s
for ‘our safety’. “It (necessity) is the argument of tyrants; it
is the creed of slaves.” In Idaho, Governor Little,
Speaker Bedke and others have not spoken against this, but have
participated. Good business? No! No reason to enslave or
indenture children. Children are not responsible for COVID
policies. They have not harmed anyone. Unless I am missing
something, are children treated as a conquered people in their own land
or as enemies in their own country?Scott Perrin Cottonwood, Idaho Redneck Review! No. 347 - 12/19/21 In recognition of the coming greatest feast of the year, CHRISTMAS, recalling the birth of Jesus Christ some 2000 years ago, we reprint an article written by me in 1983 in the Cottonwood Chronicle, under the title of LET FREEDOM RING: " 'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house...' It's hard to believe, but the Christmas rush is nearly over and 'The night before....' is with us once again! So what better time to pause and consider the impact of HIS coming, in our own lives and in the world around us? "An intriguing historical individual is this 'man' Jesus Christ! For like no other before or since, His birth was foretold long before, in that most famous of ancient books, the Bible. And who else in our recorded history not only had an entire book to record the events leading up to HIS coming, but HIS life and teachings since? "How many others, it might be asked, interrupted time itself, and calibrated modern calendar time to begin? Yes, it is an historical fact that this Hebrew carpenter's son has made more impact on civilization than any other individual! "Just the other day for example, an article appeared in daily papers noting that a new round of tests are being conducted once again on the 'Shroud of Turin.' Results of this first analysis by computer 'offers highly significant evidence linking the cloth to the time of the Crucifixion,' the article said. The shroud you might remember, is an ancient linen cloth kept at Turin, Italy, said to be imprinted, many believe, by the image of Christ. "But the shroud itself is no more unusual than other events and claims associated with this 'man.' 'Born of a virgin' and 'son of God' we've been told. 'Rose from the dead' and 'ascended into heaven' it need be added. Yes, the historical claims made about this God-Man and the events which have occurred since HIS First Coming, offer powerful evidence HE is indeed one of a kind. "So what should all this mean to you and me? Simply, that all who claim to be 'Christian' should one more time renew our pledge to daily follow in HIS footsteps. One more time let us resolve to put earthly things into their proper place, and dedicate ourselves to those lasting things made known by HIM for us. So let us determine to put God and neighbor first in our lives and devote ourselves to HIS mission on earth, to bring peace to all men of good will, and happiness hereafter." So in words used to close these comments before, we continue: "Oh Lord, on your birthday, please open our eyes, and help us appreciate America's prize, The freedom and peace, the family and things, All of us have learned that Christmas brings. "Open our hearts so your love can come in, Please guard us we beg you, keep us from sin, Help us resolve what we have we will share, For less fortunate folks, please teach us to share. "With your help Lord on this day, to you we will pray, that we do our part on this Christmas day. So Christmas in the future forever will be, what Christmas has been always for you and for me!" A HAPPY AND HOLY CHRISTMAS SEASON AND NEW YEAR FOR ONE AND FOR ALL! Jake Wren |
