Cottonwood City Council meets The Cottonwood City Council held their December meeting Monday, Dec. 13. CEDA was approved to be the grant administrator for the City Park project. An agreement on an Idaho Community Block Grant was tabled as it isn’t quite ready yet. The city approved declaring extra fire department turnouts as surplus. The fire department will be donating them to the Elk City and Wheatland Fire Departments. A contract was approved for a new building inspector. It will be Tristan Kimball. Cottonwood City Council meeting dates for 2022 were approved. They are printed below. The results of the Nov. 2 election were approved. An alcohol beverage license was approved for Cottonwood Foods. A hall cleaning contract was not accepted as written. Mayor Keith Holcomb will meet with the interested parties and negotiate an agreement. A letter of intent for grant funding was approved to give JUB Engineering permission to submit for a grant in the city’s behalf to the Idaho Division of Environmental Quality. The Cottonwood Saddliers 4-H Club submitted a request to get the hall rent waived for Santa’s Cabana. Instead Holcomb Crane offered to donated the cost of the hall rent for the event. Regarding the Joe Didier Conditional Use Permit request, city attorney Joe Wright said their was an issue with the legal description. As the property in question has been sold, Mayor Holcomb will contact the new owners to see if they want to continue with the proceedings to obtain the permit. In reports, Pat Holthaus reported they pumped 2.37 million gallons of water and sold 2.30 million gallons for about a 3% loss. It was reported the sewer system will start discharging into the creek in January as they get organized to address the new permit. Holcomb reported they are working on a $100,000 grant for some street work. It was reported that the city has been awarded a grant for a slurry seal for the airport runways to be done in 2023. The fire department had just 1 call and it turned out to be a false alarm. Action on a water bill question was tabled due to a lien on the affected property. A special meeting was set up with Amy Uptmor of JUB Engineering to bring the new council members up to speed on the stormwater project.
