The students at Prairie Elementary School participated in a service project for the local food bank. The drive started November 29th and finished December 14th. The student council set the collection as a friendly class competition. The council collected and counted the items, which came to a whopping 1,082 items. It took two cars and one pickup to deliver the goods. The council had a great time being in charge of this project and were very proud to deliver the food. Smiles were big as they enjoyed surprising Mary and Joyce Lorentz with so many boxes filled with goodies. Thank you to all the students and staff who donated food and personal items, which helped fill the shelves.  Coming in 1st place for the competition was the 5th grade with 315 items, 3rd grade collected 168 and 2nd grade collected 152 items. Student council members who organized this project were Reagan Brannan, Mia Anderson, Matthew Jones, Sam Rehder and Austin Labrum. “Giving is not just making a donation; it is about making a difference”.
