Lady Pirates win 4 of 6
The Prairie Lady Pirates played 3 doubleheaders this past week. On Tuesday, April 19 they swept Lewis County at Nezperce 16-12 and 19-4. On Friday, April 22 at Kendrick, they got swept 2-21 and 3-17. On Monday, April 25 they swept Troy 19-1 and 30-7 at Cottonwood.
In the opening game against Lewis County the Lady Pirates jumped out to a big early lead and then had to hold on for the win.
LC scored first with a run in the first inning on a single, walk and error off of Tara Schlader who pitched all 5 innings.
Prairie answered back with 10 runs in the bottom of the inning on 5 hits, 3 errors, 3 walks and 2 hit batsmen.
Delanie Lockett led off by reaching on an error. Mackenzie Key followed with a walk and a single by Tara Schlader loaded the bases. Prairie tied the game when Josie Remacle walked. Gracie Farr grounded out with Key scoring on the play. A groundout by Kaylie Lockett scored Schlader. Riley Enneking walked. Ember Martin beat out an infield single as Remacle scored. Lexi Schumacher was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Enneking and moved the other two runners up a base. Delanie Lockett reached on another error with Martin and Schumacher both scoring. Lockett went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Key’s single. Schlader reached on an error. Remacle singled home Key and Farr singled home Schlader to make it 10-1.
Schlader gave up a single in the second inning by Remacle threw her out at second trying to steal. Schlader then got the next two hitters out.
In the bottom of the second Prairie’s first two batters were put out then Prairie had 5 straight hitters reach as they added 3 more runs. Delanie Lockett walked, Key reached on an error and Schlader singled home Lockett. Remacle singled to scored both Key and Schlader to make it 13-1.
Schlader got the side out in order in the third inning.
Prairie added 2 more in their half of the third. Enneking led off with a single. After 2 outs, Delanie Lockett reached when the left fielder dropped her fly ball for a 2-base error as Enneking scored. A pair of passed balls scored Lcokett to get Prairie within 1 run of ending the game on the 15-run mercy rule. LC then got out of the inning.
The Eagles scored in the top of the fourth without benefit of a hit as Schlader got a bit wild. She walked the bases loaded with 2 outs then hit a batter to force in a run before getting out of the inning.
Prairie needed 2 runs to end the game on the mercy rule. Remacle hit a 1-out triple then Tamden Pecarovich went in as a courtesy runner. After a second out, Kaylie Lockett singled to right to score Pecarovich. Lockett stole second putting the game-ending run in scoring position but was left stranded.
Heading into the fifth with the time limit approaching, Prairie just need to keep Lewis County from scoring 14 runs to keep the game going another half inning. It got a little dicey as Schlader gave up 4 hits including a 2-run homer. She also walked 2 hitters, hit two others and had 3 errors behind her. With the score at 16-12 and a runner on first, the inning finally ended on what appeared to be another hit but Enneking threw out the batter at first from short right field to end the game.
Prairie had 10 hits with Remacle having a triple and 2 singles and 1 RBI. Schlader had 2 singles and an RBI. Farr and Kaylie Lockett each had a single and 2 RBI. Key and Martin each had a single and an RBI. Enneking also had a single. Of note, Delanie Lockett reached 3 times on errors and once on a walk and scored all 4 times.
Schlader gave up 12 runs on 6 hits with 6 walks, 3 hit batsmen and 5 strikeouts.

In the second game Prairie was the visitors and scored 2 runs in the first inning. Delanie Lockett and Key both walked and scored. Schlader grounded out to score Lockett and Key scored on Farr’s groundout. Prairie loaded the bases on walks to Remacle, Kaylie Lockett and Enneking but stranded all 3 runners.
Key pitched for Prairie and gave up a leadoff single but then got 3 straight outs.
Prairie added 7 runs in the second inning. Martin led off with a double to the gap in left. Two wild pitches allowed her to score. Delanie Lockett and Key both were hit by a pitch. Schlader then doubled home Lockett and Kay scored on a sacrifice fly by Remacle. Schlader scored on Farr’s groundout. Kaylie Lockett and Enneking were each hit by a pitch and both wound up scoring on wild pitches. Laney Forsmann walked and stole second. Martin walked and then Delanie Lockett beat out an infield hit to score Forsmann and make it 9-0.
Key got the side out in order in the bottom of the second.
Prairie added 3 in the top of the third. With 1 out, Remacle walked and Pecarovich went in as a courtesy runner. She moved to second on a passed ball and to third on another passed ball. Farr struck out on a pitch in the dirt and reached when the catcher’s throw sailed past first with Pecarovich scoring on the play. Farr stole second and scored on Kaylie Lockett’s single up the middle. Lockett went to second on a passed ball and to third on a wild pitch. Enneking walked then her and Lockett pulled off a double steal as Lockett scored to make it 12-0.
In the bottom of the third Key gave up 4 singles and 2 runs as LC cut the lead to 12-2.
Prairie added 3 more in the fourth. Key led off with a single. Schlader walked and Remacle was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Key was put out at the plate trying to score on a passed ball. Farr walked to reload the bases. Schlader stole home and Pecarovich, running for Remacle, scored on a groundout by Kayiie Lockett. Farr scored on a wild pitch to make it 15-2.
Key put the side out in order in the bottom of the fourth.
In the top of the fourth Prairie added 4 more runs. Delanie Lockett and Key both walked. Schlader singled home Lockett and Key and Schlader both scored when Remacle reached on an error. Remacle reached second on the play and Pecarovich went in to run. Pecarovich advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Farr’s groundout to second. That made it 19-2.
Lewis County managed to score 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth but needed 8 to extend the game another inning.
Prairie had 7 hits. Schlader had a double and a single and 3 RBI. Martin had a double. Kaylie Lockett had a single and 2 RBI. Delanie Lockett had a single and an RBI. Key and Enneking each had a single. Farr didn’t have any hits but had 3 RBI.
Key gave up 4 runs on 8 hits, all singles, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.

The Lady Pirates ran into a buzzsaw at Kendrick as the Tigers won the opening game 2-21 in 3 innings.
The Tigers scored 4 in the top of the first, 5 in the second and 12 in the third.
Prairie meanwhile was limited to just 2 hits and 2 runs in the second inning. Kaylie Lockett had a double and Remacle a single for Prairie’s 2 hits.
Key and Schumacher shared pitching duties with Key starting and Schumacher coming on in the 12-run third. Kendrick pounded out 12 hits including a homer, 3 triples and 3 doubles.

The second game wasn’t much better although as the visiting team Prairie managed to score first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
Kendrick answered with 7 runs in the bottom of the first and 3 in the second for a 1-10 lead.
Prairie scored 2 in the third but Kendrick answered with 5 in the third and 2 more in the fourth to end the game after 5 innings on the 10-run mercy rule.
Prairie had 6 hits in the game led by Delanie Lockett with a pair of singles. Enneking had a double while Key, Remacle and Amelia Uhlenkott each had a single.
Key pitched all 4 innings of the second game allowing 17 runs on 18 hits.

In the opening game against Troy, Prairie jumped all over the Trojans with 12 runs in the first inning. Troy scored 1 in the second then Prairie added 7 in the third to end the game on the 15-run mercy rule.
Prairie had just 5 hits in the game as the benefitted from numerous walks plus 3 Troy errors. Delanie Lockett had a pair of singles. Forsmann had a triple. Katrina Bried had a double and Remacle had a single.
Key pitched all 3 innings allowing just 1 run and 1 hit.

In the second game Troy scored 3 in the top of the first inning but Prairie answered with 8 runs in the bottom of the inning.
Troy cut the lead to 7-8 in the top of the second but Prairie answered with a 22-run bottom of the second.
The game was then called due to time limit.
Schlader pitched into the second inning but Key came on in the second to finish out the inning.
Prairie had 13 hits in the game as Delanie Lockett had a double and 2 singles. Remacle had a pair of singles. Key had a triple. Farr and Enneking each had a double. Schlader, Amelia Uhlenkott, Forsmann, Martin and Grace Uhlenkott each had a single.
Prairie is now 7-4 overall and 6-3 in league play.
