Idaho County Fair is this week The Idaho County Fair takes place in Cottonwood this week. The events got started Wednesday morning, August 17, with the Ribbon Cutting at 8:30 a.m. From 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday 4-H projects could be entered in the 4-H Building. From 9 to 12:30 Open Class exhibits cold be entered. The 4-H Dog Show and 4-H Rabbit Show were both held, starting at 9:30 a.m., in the Vernon Agee Pavilion. Judging of 4-H exhibits is set to take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the 4-H Building, at which time the building will be closed. It will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. and then closed again from 6 to 9 p.m. The 4-H Poultry Show starts at 1 p.m. in the Vernon Agee Pavilion. Judging of Open Class exhibits will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Open Class building. The building will be closed during judging. The annual Pigtail Contest will start at 1:30 p.m. in the Schmidt Building. Contestants may want to arrive early to get their pigtails measured. 4-H and FFA Livestock can be entered and weighed in from 3 to 8 p.m. At 7 p.m. will be the 4-H Fashion Show. After the show awards will be presented for all 4-H Family & Consumer Science projects and also the Specialty Project Awards. This all takes place in the Schmidt Building. On Thursday, August 18, the 4-H and FFA Fitting and Showing Livestock Contest takes place in the Vernon Agee Pavilion starting at 8:30 a.m. with beef and swine with the sheep and goats set to start at 1 p.m. The Old Time Fiddlers will perform in the Gazebo at 1 p.m. At 5 p.m. the Dog Agility Demonstration will take place in the Cottonwood City Park. At 7 p.m. will be the Two-Minute Talent Show in the Schmidt Building. Teresa Groom is the chairperson and you can call her at 208-983-8747 to enter. On Friday, August 19 the 4-H and FFA Livestock Judging Contest will be held at 8:30 a.m. At 9:30 a.m. the Quality Judging will start for Beef and Swine at the Vernon Agee Livestock Pavilion. Sheep and Goats will start at 1 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. the Royalty Evening will start. Royalty Candidates will be introduced and the Crowning of the 2023 Royalty will be held at the Schmidt Building. At 7 p.m. “B-Sides” will be performing at the Gazebo. Immediately following the Royalty Crowning, the Annual 4-H Green Swing Dance, sponsored by the 4-H Ambassadors, will be held in the Vernon Agee Pavilion. On Saturday, August 20, the Idaho County Fair Parade is set to start at 10 a.m. on Main Street. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Idaho/Lewis County Cattle Association will hold their Beef Barbecue in the gazebo area. At noon the 4-H Livestock awards will be held at the Vernon Agee Pavilion. At 1 p.m. the 4-H Market Livestock Sale will start with order of sale being Steers, Sheep & Goats and then Swine. From 1 to 3 p.m. their will be a Spinning Demonstration in the Open Class Building presented by Lou Sawyer. At 3:30 p.m. the Exhibit Buildings will close and from 4 to 6 p.m. exhibits can be checked out by presenting your Claim Checks. |
