Cross Country team at two meets
The Prairie Cross Country Team got their season started by competing in a pair of meets last week.
On Thursday, Sept. 8 the high school team competed at the Troy Invitational. On Saturday, Sept. 10 both the jr. high and high school teams competed at the Seaport Invite at Beachview Park in Clarkston.
TROY INVITATIONAL
The boys had a full team of 7 runners in the varsity race at Troy. As a team they finished in 6th place.
Prairie’s top finisher was Chase Vonbargen who just missed the top 10 by finishing in 11th with a time of 21:18.
Ben Secrest was 28th in 22:42.24. Jackson Enneking was 35th in 23:35.55. Morgan Poxleitner was 42nd in 25:16.98. Max Rehder was 46th in 27:33.65. Dylan Klapprich was 49th in 27:51.8. Landon Riener was 51st in 29:05.18.
Zane Uptmor finished 14th in the JV race with a time of 27:42.55.
In the girls race Prairie had just 3 runners and so weren’t able to compete as a team.
Natalie Goeckner was the top finished with a 16th place finish in 28:23.59. Callie Remacle was 21st in 30:19.3 and Alaina Lustig was 25th in 34:14.88.
SEAPORT INVITE
At the Seaport Invite the boys had 6 runners in the varsity race and finished 7th as a team. Vonbargen was again the top finisher placing 23rdwith a time of 20:25.46. Secrest was 27th in 21:06.70. Enneking was 31st in 21:28.73. Poxleitner was 45th in 23:50.01. Rehder was 48th in  24:38.83. Riener was 53rd in 27:23.73.
Klapprich and Uptmor were both in the JV race. Klapprich was 36th in 27:36.85 and Uptmor was 37th in 27:43.76.
In the girls race 5 girls started but only 4 were able to finish. Goeckner was the top finisher in 20th with a time of 26:28.49. Remacle was 23rd in 29:30.01. Elizabeth Severns was 35th in 29:53.16 and Miranda Klapprich was 39th in 32:10.63. Lustig started the race but was unable to finish.
Prairie had 4 boys in the jr. high race with Matthew Jones being the top finisher in 21st with a time of 10:30.63 over the 3000 meter course, 2000 meters shorter than the high school course.
Kade Hanson was 46th in 11:45.99. George Villamor was 62nd in 15:07.29 and Gabe Decaria was 67th in 16:58.00.
There were 3 runners in the girls race. Aubree Geis was Prairie’s only top 10 finisher of the day as she placed 9th in 11:00.72. Evelyn Gehring placed 12th in 11:12.57 and Alaina Decaria was 48th in 15:16.75.
