Lady Pirates win 3 of 4 The Prairie Lady Pirates finished their regular season with a pair of 3 games sweeps over Kamiah and Grangeville at Kamiah Tuesday, Oct. 11. They then split their first two District matches, getting swept by Logos before sweeping C.V. with both matches held Saturday, Oct. 15 at the LCSC Activity Center in Lewiston. At Kamiah Prairie won the match at
Kamiah 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 to close out their league regular season.
With the win they tied Kamiah for 5th place in the final league standings at 5-9 but were given the 5th seed at District since they swept Kamiah while it took Kamiah 5 games to win at Prairie.Prairie scored the first point in the opening game and then fell behind 1-4. They mostly trailed except for a brief 7-6 lead until a missed serve sent Alli Geis to the service line. Two aces tied the scored then Tara Schlader scores consecutive kills to give Prairie the lead. Geis served another ace and Kylie Schumacher scored a kill. After 2 more aces, Prairie led 18-12 as Geis had served for 8 straight points. Kamiah rallied back within 1 at 19-18 before a block by Kylie Schumacher and an ace by Schlader pushed the lead back to 3. After a sideout, Prairie scored the final 4 points on a sideout tip by Julia Rehder then Kristin Wemhoff served out the game. She had an ace while Geis and Riley Enneking each added a kill. Prairie fell behind 0-5 in the second game and mostly trailed except for a couple of ties until Geis again took her first turn on the service line. A missed Kamiah serve tied the score then 2 kills by Schlader with Geis serving gave Prairie a 13-11 lead. After a pair of sideouts it was Lexi Schumacher’s turn for a service run. She had 2 aces while Schlader and Kylie Schumacher each had 2 kills as Prairie took a 20-12 lead on a 6-point service run by Lexi. Kamiah got no closer than 3 the rest of the way. In the third game Prairie scored first on a kill by Schlader but then fell behind and didn’t take the lead again until Schlader scored a kill with Julia Rehder serving to make it 10-9. That lead didn’t last though and Prairie trailed until late in the game. A free ball that became a kill by Rehder sent Wemhoff to the service line and Kamiah never got the chance to serve again. Wemhoff had 2 aces while Geis scored 2 kills plus block. Rehder added a kill and Kamiah was called twice for under the net violations as Wemhoff finished off the match with an 8-point service run. For the match Schlader had 14 kills, 1 assist and 2 aces. Geis had 11 kills, which included 2 blocks, plus 6 aces. Kylie Schumacher had 11 kills which included 4 blocks. Rehder had 9 kills, 1 assist and 1 ace. Wemhoff had 4 kills and 4 aces. Enneking had 1 kill, 4 assists and 1 ace. Lexi Schumacher had 32 assists and 2 aces. Th JV match was played at the Kamiah Jr. High gym and apparently Kamiah won, no scores available. Vs. Grangeville at Kamiah In their final match of the regular season, Prairie beat Grangeville in straight sets, 25-16, 25-14, 26-24 at Kamiah.The opening game saw Prairie take a 5-1 lead as Schlader served 3 straight points with Kylie Schumacher scoring 2 kills and Schlader picking up a point on a free ball. It was 7-4 when Enneking served 5 straight points as Prairie took a 12-4 lead. Rehder had a pair of kills in Enneking’s run with Lexi Schumacher and Wemhoff each adding a kill and Enneking an ace. Grangeville cut the lead to 12-8 but Rehder then served 4 straight to push the lead to 17-8. Schlader had a kill and a block while Geis and Lexi Schumacher each added a kill. Grangeville was able to cut the lead down to 5 at 21-16 but Kylie Schumacher scored a sideout tip and Wemhoff served out the game with an ace and Geis scoring 2 kills. In the second game it was tied at 4-4 when Wemhoff scored a back row kill and Enneking followed with 3 aces with Rehder adding a kill for a 9-4 lead. Grangeville got back within 2 and kept it close until Prairie finished off the game with an 8-1 run. Wemhoff served an ace and Geis added a kill to make it 19-13. After a sideout, Enneking scored a kill and then served out the game. She had 3 aces while Rehder added a kill and Geis scored the game-winning kill. In the third game coach Julie Schumacher got her bench players into the game as seniors Holli Schumacher and Chloe Rowland, junior Taylor Riener and sophomore Kaylie Lockett all got extended playing time. Grangeville was able to keep the game close and led at one point 11-14. Prairie turned it around and Prairie took a 21-16 lead after Lockett served a couple of aces. Grangeville came back to tie it at 22-22 before Kylie Schumacher scored a sideout kill. After a sideout by Grangeville and then a bad serve, Prairie had a match point chance. Prairie missed their own serve but got a second match point chance on a tip by Rehder. Geis then scored the match winning kill. For the match Geis had 13 kills, 1 assist and 2 aces. Schlader had 11 kills, including a block. Rehder had 9 kills and 3 assists. Lexi Schumacher had 7 kills, 33 assists and 1 ace. Wemhoff had 5 kills, 1 assist and 3 aces. Kylie Schumacher had 5 kills. Enneking had 1 kill, 3 assists and 7 aces. Riener had 1 kill. Holli Schumacher had 2 assists. Lockett had 1 assist and 2 aces. Prairie finishes their regular season with a record of 8-11 and 5-9 in league play. The JV team won their match, no scores available. Vs. Logos at District Prairie got swept in their
opening round match at District by Logos by scores of 15-25, 15-25,
22-25. No other details available.Vs. C.V. at District Prairie stayed alive at District with a sweep of C.V. by scores of 25-20, 25-10, 25-19.That win put them into a match against Potlatch on Tuesday in another loser out match. Prairie opened with a 4-0 lead against the Rams as Kylie Schumacher scored a sideout kill then an ace by Lexi Schumacher and a kill each by Schlader and Wemhoff made it 4-0. C.V. got back within 1 at 5-4 and kept it close the rest of the way. Prairie took a 6-point lead after an ace by Geis and a kill by Kylie Schumacher that made it 13-7. C.V. managed to trim the lead back down to 1 at 20-19. At that point Wemhoff scored a back row kill for a sideout and Geis, Schlader and Lexi Schumacher each followed with a kill to get to game point at 24-19. C.V. scored a sideout but Schlader then slammed the ball off the top of the net that veered away from any defenders for a game-winning kill. The second game stayed close until Lexi Schumacher served a couple of aces on her second turn at the service line that made it 11-6. Prairie still led by 5 at 15-10 when C.V. missed a serve and Wemhoff went to the service line. She served out the game with 9 straight points. She had 5 aces while Enneking had 2 kills and Rehder and Geis each had 1 as Prairie won by 15. Kylie Schumacher scored 2 kills to open the third game and then Lexi Schumacher served 3 straight aces for a 5-0 lead. C.V. got back within 2 at 6-4 but a kill each by Kylie Schumacher and Geis and an ace by Wemhoff made it 9-4. Prairie kept the lead at 5 or 6 points until Lexi Schumacher and Schlader each served a pair of points as Prairie took a 20-11 lead. Kylie Schumacher had 2 kills and a block in that stretch while Schlader and Rehder each had a kill. C.V. got the lead back down to 5 but got no closer and Prairie was able to close out the match with a free ball kill by Wemhoff and an ace by Geis. Kylie Schumacher had 13 kills, including 2 blocks, in the match. Geis had 10 kills, including a block, and an ace. Schlader had 8 kills, 1 assist and 3 aces. Rehder had 7 kills and 1 assist.
