Cottonwood City Council meets
The Cottonwood City Council held their regular October meeting Tuesday, Oct. 11. They approved a request by Prairie’s HOSA group to waive the hall rent for an event planned for Oct. 29. They also approved a request to waive hall rent for Timothy Magill of the Idaho Dept. of Corrections for occasional use of the hall basement to meet with probation clients. These would last just 15 to 30 minutes. The council also approved an agreement with the City of Ferdinand to help with their water testing. Cost would be $60 per trip plus $60 extra for each extra hour if it takes more than 1 hour to do the job. The council approved Resolution 2022-09 to make a playground equipment donation to the City of Ferdinand. This would be for the metal playground items such as the swing sets and monkey bars. They will remove the large swing set now and get the rest probably in the spring. The large swing set needs to be removed for the Pavilion project. Vacant building discussion was continued from the last meeting. They got a report from the building inspector that a building needs to be more than 50% compromised to be considered for condemning. In other business alleyways were discussed and it was noted there are no limitations on use at this time. Pat Enneking reported DEQ will be coming out with requirements on lead and copper for water pipes. Enneking also reported the City of Lewiston reached out about pulling a sewer line for them. Council members expressed concerns about sending our crew to Lewiston. In reports, Terry Cochran reported there were no issues during the Lewis County Fair. He is also looking into crosswalk signs for the East and Foster intersection at the request of the school. He got a homeowner to trim back their foliage so that the current sign can be seen better by vehicles coming from the direction of the Primeland pumps. Debby O’Neill reported the city pumped 6,383,600 gallons of water and sold 6, 274, 320 for a loss of just 1.55%. Sewer commissioner Lynn Guyer was absent but it was reported Joe Wright is working on a sewer ordinance required for their discharge permit. There wasn’t anything to report from the street department. Linda Nida reported by for a $2500 grant from health and welfare. She also reported they want to wait on more of their funding before breaking ground on the new playground equipment. However they will be removing the current cabana and park bathrooms soon to start work on the Park Pavilion project. Kristy Holthaus reported there are signs they need to get for the runways and they are looking into where they can get them. Nida reported the fire department had 3 calls. 1 was at the school, another was a logging truck accident and the third was a hay bale fire. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. The next regular meeting will be Monday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. |
