Whatsoever
Things Are True
by Dan Coburn Pastor, Emmanuel Baptist Church pastordan@mtida.net Are you one of those people who from time to time, feels compelled to go to Church, but there always seems to be something in the way? You're in good company. A great number of folks fall into this category, especially at Christmas. If this isn't you, do you know some folks this might relate to? Are you intimidated by Churchy people who seem to literally speak a different language than you and the crowd you run with? Is it your experience that "men of the cloth" try to impress the masses by showing off how much Bible they know, or mixing in just the right amount of Greek? ; - these guys who came out of the womb quoting Scripture and never worked a day in their life, and yet pretend to relate to us regular folks. They have more hair than Fabio, and the wind is always blowing on the stage. Let's turn the Spiritual Switch. Most people think they have to make some radical changes in order to come to a saving relationship with Christ; or worse yet, to be accepted by those pesky Christians. We think we have to "run the gauntlet" or give up most everything - especially the fun stuff, and that a Spiritual Lobotomy will relieve us of our sense of humor. The truth is this. You don't have to convince Jesus to love or even to save you. It was His plan from the beginning. God is: "..............not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance". 2nd Peter 3:9 To save you, was why He came into the world - Luke 19:10. Instead of us chasing Him down, He says: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock....." Rev. 3:20 I want to personally invite you to Cottonwood this Sunday morning at 10 am. The preacher is an ex logger/mill worker from Elk City, No college, does not look like Paul Newman, but loves you and The Lord. There will be Christmas music, along with a presentation by our choir - 15 strong. Come learn how Jesus desires to find you. Bring a friend; bring lots of friends, you will be welcome. It is God's desire for your life, so Let Him bless you. Give your life to Him, and the first three Christmas presents you will receive are Love, Joy and Peace. No joke. Emmanuel Baptist Church, 404 Foster. We'll save you a seat. |
