Patriot teams each are 1-1 during the week UPDATED ST. JOHN BOSCO GIRLS & BOYS BASKETBALL SCHEDULE FOR 2022-23The St. John Bosco boys and girls basketball teams each split a pair of games this past week. On Tuesday, Dec.6, they traveled together to Kendrick where they both lost. The girls lost 14-55 while the boys lost 38-60. On Thursday, Dec. 8, the boys team traveled to Weippe where they beat Timberline 58-43. Finally on Saturday, Dec. 10, the girls traveled to Boise where they picked up their first win of the season, 43-14 over North Star Charter. Boys at Kendrick
Kendrick outscored the Patriots in all 4 quarters with
only the third quarter being close. Kendrick jumped out to an 8-21 lead
by the end of the first quarter and led 16-35 at the half. The Tigers
outscored the Patriots just 11-12 in the third quarter before pulling
away further in the fourth.
Clay Weckman led the Patriots with 13 points while Cody Wassmuth was also in double figures with 11. Torry Chmelik scored 6 with Luke Stubbers and Levi Wassmuth each scoring 4. The Lady Patriots were held to just 5 points through
the first 3 quarters against Kendrick before outscoring the Tigers 9-6
in the running clock fourth quarter.

The boys team picked up a league win when they traveled to Weippe to play Timberline.
The Patriots led 22-8 by the end of the first quarter. And they pretty much held that lead through the rest of the game as they outscored Timberline by just 1 point over the final 3 quarters. They led 28-15 at the half and 39-25 after 3 quarters. Chmelik had a big game offensively with 22 points to lead all scorers. Weckman added 14 points. Levi Wassmuth made it 3 players in double figures with 10 points. Cody Wassmuth and Stubbers each scored 6. Levi Wassmuth almost had a double-double as he led the team with 9 rebounds. The Lady Patriots picked up their first win of the
season in a Small School Showcase game against North Star Charter which
was played at Timberline High School in Boise.
The game was slow-paced in the first half as SJB led just 7-4 after one quarter and 14-10 at the half. The Lady Patriots outscored North 12-2 in the third quarter to break the game open and then pulled away in the fourth as they outscored them 17-2. A 4-point game at the half turned into a 29-point blowout win. Wassmuth had a big game as she led all scorers with 21 points. Waters was also in double figures with 12 points. Serrinah Palmer and Chmelik each scored 5 points. Defensively the Patriots stole the ball 33 times leading to many easy transition scores, especially in the second half. The Lady Patriots are now 1-4 on the season and 0-1 in league play.
