Avoid falling prey to employment scams
The Idaho Department of Finance is warning jobseekers to be aware of the red flags of employment scams in light of a recent consumer complaint the Department received, and the continued prevalence of these scams nationwide. In the first quarter of 2022, U.S. consumers were scammed out of $68 million as a result of fake business and job opportunity schemes according to the Federal Trade Commission. . . .

Pirates are 0-3 at Avista tournament
The Prairie Pirates participated in the Avista Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament last Tuesday through Thursday, Dec. 27-29, and lost 3 games to finish 8th in the tournament. They opened with a 40-55 loss to eventual runner-up Shadle Park of Spokane on Tuesday. On Wednesday they lost 33-46 to Pendleton. Both of those games were played at the LCSC Activity Center. On Thursday, Dec. 29, they lost to Kellogg 30-65 in the 7th place game at Clarkston High School. . . .

Lady Pirates take 2nd at Avista Tournament
The Prairie Lady Pirates placed second in the Avista Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament held at Lewiston on Dec. 27-29. On Tuesday, Dec. 27 they easily defeated Pendleton 49-20. On Wednesday, Dec. 28, they fought off a tough Clarkston team 49-37. In the championship game on Thursday, Dec. 29, they faced a familiar foe and saw Lapwai pull away in the fourth quarter for a 44-54 win. . . .
