Prairie wrestling update
Prairie's two wrestlers competed at the 6th Jaybird Memorial Girls High
School Wrestling Tournament at Nampa on Jan. 13-14 and then at
Clearwater Class at Lewiston on Jan. 20-21.
At the Jaybird Memorial Schumacher competed in the 120 lbs. bracket. She got a first round bye then won by pin over Jonnie McQueen of Columbia in 3:19. She then lost by pin in 1:16 to Makayla Smith of Mountain Home. In the consolation bracket she won by pin over Ella Rawlins of Owyhee in 1:45. Next she won by pin in 4:11 over 4:11 over Sara Lloyd of Filer. That put her up against Shelby Prather of Potlatch in the consolation semifinals where she lost by pin in 4:11. Pack lost her first match by pin to MbomaKwet of Borah in 2:51. In her second match she lost to Georgie Edmunson of Four Rivers in 3:17. This past weekend Schumacher and Pack competed at the Clearwater Classic in Lewiston. Schumacher competed in the girls 120 lb. weight class round robin and took second place. Schumacher won by pin in 20 seconds over Audrey DeLeon of Weiser. She won by pin in 54 seconds over Maddison White of Kellogg. In what turned out to be the championship match, she lost by pin in 1:04 to Kadence Beck of Highland who also competes with Grangeville along with Schumacher. She also competed in the girls 120-126 lb. bracket. She faced White again and won by pin in 1:00. In the semifinal she won by pin in 3:43 over Reese Bauer of Kellogg. In the championship final she faced Beck again and lost by pin in 1:49 to again take second place. Pack competed in the 132 lb. B round robin before advancing to the 132 lb. bracket. She won by pin in 4:01 over Gloria Nasalla of Enterprise-Wallowa. She lost by pin in 32 seconds to Megan Myers of C.V. She lost by 16-0 technical fall to Bria Miller of Lewiston. In the 132 lb. bracket she lost by pin in 3:08 to Meg’n Blundell of Clearwater Valley. She then lost by pin in 1:14 to Payzlee Wilkins of Weiser.
