Lady Pirates win twice
The Prairie Lady Pirates closed out their regular season with 3 home wins last week. On Tuesday, Jan. 24, they beat Troy 81-17. On Thursday, Jan. 26, they beat Kamiah 54-25. Finally on Friday, Jan. 27, they beat Potlatch 85-24 on Senior Night. The Potlatch game was rescheduled from earlier in the season due to illness. . . .
Update: Prairie won their District opener against Troy on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 64-14 and will play Kamiah at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4 at Lewiston High School.

Patriot boys win 1 of 3, girls lose twice
The St. John Bosco Patriots boys basketball team won 1 of their 3 games last week while the girls team lost both of their games. The boys beat Nezperce 49-33 Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Craigmont while the girls lost 31-54. On Thursday, Jan. 26 the boys lost 51-60 at Deary while the girls lost at Deary 16-44. St. John Bosco 7th grade student Madeline Wassmuth was recently recognized by the regional Veterans of Foreign Wars for her Patriot's Pen essay.  Madeline submitted her essay titled My Pledge to our Veterans to the local VFW last fall where she placed first in her age group.  Her essay discussed her pledge to learn more about our veterans' stories and share them with others.  Following her local win,the essay was sent to the regional competition where she received an honorable mention.  She was presented with a certificate by Dale McElroy and Dave Frei. Brenda's Paint Parties was at TriCo, in Craigmont, on January 23 painting with employees, Robbie, Stacy and Cheryl.
