St. John Bosco boys win 1 of 3, girls lose twice Updated ST. JOHN BOSCO GIRLS & BOYS BASKETBALL SCHEDULE FOR 2022-23The St. John Bosco Patriots boys basketball team won 1 of their 3 games last week while the girls team lost both of their games. The boys beat Nezperce 49-33 Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Craigmont while the girls lost 31-54. On Thursday, Jan. 26 the boys lost 51-60 at Deary while the girls lost at Deary 16-44. In the game against Nezperce SJB got off to a slow
start as they trailed the Nighthawks 3-11 at the end of the first
quarter. The Patriots came back in the second quarter to outscore the
Nighthawks 13-5 and tie the score at the half at 16-16.
The Patriots broke the game open in the third quarter outscoring the Nighthawks 19-3 to take a 35-19 lead into the fourth quarter. Each team scored 14 in the fourth as SJB held on for the win. Clay Weckman scored 13 points to lead the Patriots in scoring. Cody Wassmuth was also in double figures with 11 points. Torry Chmelik scored 6, Matthew Warren 5, Luke Stubbers, Levi Wassmuth and John Uhlenkott 4 each and Conner Nuxoll 2. St. John Bosco also won the JV game. Nezperce outscored the Lady Patriots in each quarter
of their game. Nezperce led 9-15 after one quarter and 16-27 at the

In the boys game at Deary the Patriots led for most of the first half. They led 15-14 after one quarter and 34-31 at the half.
Deary came out in the third quarter and outscored the Patriots 11-14 to tie the game at 45-45 heading into the fourth quarter. Deary then outscored the Patriots 6-15 in the fourth to pull away for the win. Deary basically won the game at the free throw line where they were 16 for 22 while the Patriots were 4 for 11. Chmelik scored 18 points to lead the Patriots in scoring. Stubbers scored 14 and Clay Weckman was also in double figures with 12. Levi Wassmuth scored 4 and Cody Wassmuth scored 3. In the girls game Deary jumped all over the Patriots
from the start taking a 6-17 lead after one quarter and leading 6-23 at
the half as St. John Bosco was unable to score in the second quarter.
Deary extended the lead by outscoring SJB 6-16 in the third quarter to take a 12-39 lead into the fourth quarter. Deary outscored the Patriots just 4-5 in the fourth quarter. Waters and Wassmuth led the Patriots in scoring with 6 points each. Palmer and Dahlsrud each scored 2 points. The Lady Patriots are now 2-9 overall and 1-8 in league play. In the game at Orofino the boys fell behind 8-19 by
the end of the first quarter. They played Orofino tougher in the second
quarter as the Maniacs outscored them just 10-12 for an 18-31 halftime
lead.
The Patriots outscored Orofino in the third quarter 18-14 but still trailed 36-46 heading into the fourth quarter. Orofino then pulled away in the fourth by outscoring SJB 9-23. Cody Wassmuth led the Patriots in scoring with 13 points. Levi Wassmuth was also in double figures with 10 points. Weckman scored 9, Chmelik and Stubbers 6 each, and Stallone Hoene 2.
